Nice top! And it has the "look" too! It goes to show that you can do things on a low budget and have it look and work great! It's not easy to build a nice hot rod over on the other side of the pond and you guys do it very well!
My Roadster was imported from Texas back in the middle of the eighties. And i may have had a steel top sometime during its life, but some one saved the roadster bits and revelded them, Then another owner started to cut them away to restore it i guess. I have only spotwelded the latest cuts, so far, my plan is to improve on the work. someday. The car was sold by a Mr Brent E (Zegler??) In Lubbock Texas Brent had found it behind a building somewhere in Texas, Brents parents had an antique shop i Lubbock. Thats the only thing I know about its life in USA. Any tips/info on Mr Brent could be interresting. www.brandow.eu
Carpenters look away? you used a mitered bridle joint glued with epoxy on your corners...you should be proud ! A great looking job, Well done!
Looks good, I would be tempted to spray it with some SEM black dye, got a thing for black or white tops.!
Great car, always admired it! Top looks good!!! I tell ya, getting a top to look right it hard, or stressful rather. I just finished this top a few months ago. I chopped an aready chopped frame twice more. Now I'm pissed I didn't take a little more out. Hahaha. I do think about reworking it, canvas and all. I also just finally found a 34 roadster too. I will not make this same mistake twice, it is gonna get it good! Hahaha...
Your rear bow looks right, not too high at all. But it looks like the middle bow is too tall. Langly was saying on another thread about that bow needs to be 1.5" taller than the back bow, but I really don't think it works on some build styles.
Yeah, I'm not too keen on the new school looking look. I like them with that rake. Even if they look a little lower with the lowering of the middle bow. I may re chop the whole thing at a later date, we'll see.
Mr. 42... thanks for sharing those pics! They are great. Your really did save the old girl, nice job. I hope to have time tonight to go back and read and look further, interesting. I'm going to get my car this Sat., can't wait!
Hiya Lars! Man your roadster is looking sweet. The top looks perfect for the car. You got my vote moe .
Lars, I just had a nice cup of coffee while reading your posts on your blog. Thank you. Fun to watch the progress. Also fun to see all the generations supporting you, good stuff! Great car. I'm finally happy my roadster is home, and I don't have as much repair as you, thankfully. Your doing a great job, keep it up. Enjoy! Ok, off to work!
Lars......I just went thru all the pictures of your build, your work is AMAZING! THANKS for sharing, I'm looking forward to the rest of your build. cw.
