I just picked this Mullins red cap up at the Wichita Swap Meet this last weekend. It was all there but the lid.
Rick, please tell me you have more details/pic of the trailer. I love it and would like to know more.
For hauling stuff and good looks you can't beat the Mullins RedCap utility trailer, original steel or 'glass repop, remove the lid to haul tall items like a pile of fenders. For sleeping in a teardrop like the Kit from Long Beach with the kitchen in the rear under the lid is nice, either one or two-door style, and can be haulers too with a nice roof rack addition. For better room and convenience the mid-50s-late-60s 10-14ftrs. are really nice.
Racinman, I love your period correct hitch on the speedster , trailer. I also really like the speedster. I hope they are as fun as they look. ................Jack
Yes, we were all about how it would have been... Square head bolts and everything on the trailer was Period parts... We did rob the wheels of another racer we had to use them... we went to get some fenders from a guy and they said no not those let me get you some of the better fenders... we replied These will work just fine! Racinman Rick
I love this old single axle trailer... its balanced just right- I've hauled both that 31 coupe and this 34 ford down to texas- the pic on the bridge is in central Arkansas, the pic with the ramps leaning on the trailer is in northern indiana... I've had this trailer all over the place behind my Ranchero- The trailer runs 10 ply tires on 16" rims with Spun wheel covers and early ford caps.
I want to build a shorter trailer, like Tuck's. Tuck, I'd love to see some detailed pics. Racinman, how do you load/unload the speedster? Ramps?
Yes Brent we have some wood ramps to unload the racer... I will get some photos tomorrow and send to you... Racinman Rick
My '35 pickup box trailer. Got it in Wisconsin last year for $200. I added the fenders. For hauling behind my 36 pickup
My trailer is a hodge podge. It's built on a 60's pop up frame, built to look like a 40's ish tear, only jumbo sized. 6 1/2 feet wide, and the body is almost 12 feet from curve to curve.
My goal with this one is to make it into a popup camper of sorts. The basic idea is to have the area with the tonnou cover rise up and be screened in with mosquito netting for ventilation. But, its yet another project I haven't found time for
Thank you Sheriff Buford T Justice for chiming in. It is not that it is illegal, it is AGAINST THE LAW. Too funny. Neal
Just picked up this '59 FAN cabover 13 1/2' camper about a month ago. Used it this last weekend at a music festival. Plans are to restore it fully, but super usable as is. Someone painted the aluminum in the recent past, so it will end up probably white/red that will match some of the hotrods/projects...maybe go wild and flame it.
I got behind a restored Shasta yesterday that must have been mid-late 50s. It had the shape of my buddy's '52 Yellowstone, sort of oval rounded at both ends, but had little wings on the top back of the sides. The taillights were converted to LED which was a nice touch, made them really pop.
My first trailer hitch consisted of a 1/2" bolt as a pivot and a piece of angle iron. (1957 on a 33 Ford w/ a 331.)
