makes it too wide if i've heard right.... ask in the AD TRUCKERS forum. bunch of good guys on there that'll help ya i'm sure.
yup, done it (actually that was the one thing I didn't do....however I had it done 15 years ago), 73ish camaro front clip....wouldn't do it again with the aftermaket options that are out there. Pics in my build thread, the clip I used was a scosh wide (not as wide as most I've seen) however was dealt with using a different offset rim.
Use a late 70's through mid 80's Malibu ,Cutless ,Grand Prix ,Regal or Monte Carlo stub .It works perfectly in these 47-54 trucks as its narrower than a Camaro or Nova clip .You still get all the 5 lug ,disc brakes ,powersteering stuff ,but tucks the tires under the fenders so you can lower it and they dont rub .My 50 has a 85 Cutless clip in it and my 49 had an 86 Cutless clip under it and they work great ...
Are you sure what you heard wasn't just using the drums to get 5-lug? I haven't ever heard of using the suspension. Alright, apparently I should have clicked on the link before speaking...
