anyone give some insight on what company built 30-31 phaeton model a bodies. the reason i ask is a friend bought one last year and there is no name on it that we can find. its a well built with good quality. anyone?
No idea who made them but a recently departed friend was a dealer. That was mid 70s maybe, but definately before 1980. They looked real good, heavy weight panels and very straight in black gelcoat.
Yep, Gibbons. Back in the 80's I ordered a 34 roadster body from them for a customer and almost ordered the Phaeton (high on my wish list) at the same time.
this one is kind of neat. looks just like a stock phaeton, until you lift the hood. there sits the reworked 4 banger with a miller head, 2 strombergs, and a mallory distributor. plus other things.
Geoff Carter (editor of Street Rodder) built one when he first started with SR -can't remember the brand - think it was Gibbon... Steve Yep - just confirmed it in the June '85 issue
EEeessSSHH! I seen a different company selling them for the same price. It's for a LSR, so fibergl*** wouldn't be eaten up by the salt. But, there's steel bodies out there for a 3rd of that price. Thanks, sorry for the hijack..
It could be a Gl***ic. They built complete cars that were sold though car dealerships in the 60's and 70's. There is a online board for them, it is http://gl***icannex.org/
Suppose you could splash a good body and make a polyester mold, then epoxy and carbon fiber for a LSR body?
That's a very labor intensive option.. but if I cant find a 30-31, then I will go with a poli-form 29 body($1400) It's an exact copy accepted by the SCTA ST/R cl*** rules.
I've got one for sale - an old race weight '27 Roadster body, has an old set of Stude rails with undropped axle/split bones front suspension. Steve
This puppy gives me all kind of ideas. http://www.deucecustoms.com.au/32tourer.html Not a 30/31 but it would sure look cool in highboy mode and a big stick of balsa wood sticking up out of the rear seat.
I bougt a 27 Roadster body, but I'd rather have an A body.. for the extra room. I appreciate that, though! Jay

there's a guy in winder ga. who makes a good roadster body, also a 40 ford chopped with doors hung and gl*** installed, cant remember his name but he's sells on ebay.......
Here is one I'm interested in. 30-31 ford roadster doors and trunk not hung. Looks good to me. You have to call for price. I think they make hoods and 32 grill shells for them too. R&R fibergl*** bodies Decatur, Tn
You could die waiting for a steel body. Most people want to build and enjoy their cars before they die.
67coronet on here is popping '30-'31 gl*** bodies. Good quality and the price is right. PM him. By the way, I believe Polyform used to make a nice two door tub a while back. Are they still in biz?
I own the Gl***ic molds for the floor pan/fenders. Sold the body molds last year; the buyer didn't want the fenders/floor. Available to any interested parties; very reasonable.
