  3. Benzine, DirtyT said in one of his early posts that he is still considered a suspect in the missing car, so clearing his name seems the right thing to do. I don't see the ethical challenges. I'd be doing the same thing-even if I wasn't a suspect, just because I would have interest in helping the guy I sold it to originally.

looks like your Cadi ,but then VIN could have been changed need to check the rivets to see if they are what Cadi put on them and not some pop rivets from the hardware store .if you get a chance to see the VIN check the last 4 digets then look at yours to see if it the car.if you have the old VIN you can go to the DMV and get a duplicate title and have a clear title in your hand.let that friend of yours take a look at it.let him know where the VIN is located before he goes.don't make it look like he checking it for you just checking out how nice it is.not sure about your state but in Kentucky if the car was not transfered it's yours.it doesn't matter if the title was signed 3 time if the name on the front is your its yours.guy here in Newport just went through this .car was sold 3 times never got it out of his name he went to the guys house after the guy paid $4500.00 a month earlier took out a set of keys and drove it off.guy took him to court judge said he had time to get it out of his name and he didn't so the guy was out $4500.00 /as for the insurance co. not sure about your state but here in Kentucky home owners will not pay off on a damaged or stolen car you have to have insurance on the car its self.2 years ago a branch from a dead tree went into my garage roof and onto my pontiac.home owners would not cover it and since my ride was put up for winter I drop the insurance on it.had to fix it out of my pocket.piss on the guy you sold it to.if he was a dick to you and put you on the spot saying you stole it back you don't owe him any respect.keep the car!

Best bet may be, insurance scam gone wrong, the guy you traded to didn't get paid by any insurance. Then claims the car turned up, "sister borrowed it no problems don't wanna press charges". Now has clear, signed title in his possession, sells it to his buddy for too much, that guy gives it to his kid. Car is clean, owned by someone else, you were never notified because it doesn't have anything to do with you and you got fucked in the ass because of one guy trying to pull an insurance scam. Hate to rain on your parade; I know you want your baby back and I hope I'm wrong. If this is the guy that stole it, KILL him. Good luck and keep us posted.

you know i thought of this same thing but i talked with the guy about 8 months after the car was stolen and it was still missing but who knows. the guy accused me of stealing it cause i kept forgetting to bring over the hubcaps for it. so he thought i still had the car cause i "wanted to keep the caps" i doubt i will get the car back but the guy i traded with was a decent guy and a car guy just like us. he said his plans were to not change it even though now i hope he would have if he still had it other wise he would get ripped on by all you guys for the flat black red wheel 60's car (yea i was nieve when i was 20 sorry) but any way im going to see what happens with it all. im not to worried about it i just thought it was the right thing to do. i just have that little glimmer of hope that i could some day get it back  anf flake the shit outa it and sit it on supremes with bellflowers :D
and ryan go ahead and delete this is you want this whole thing went to hell in a hand basket long ago. when i find out more info next week ill let you guys know if u promise not to start bitching about things u dont like. i thought tech/bitch week was last week:rolleyes:

Be careful! Tipping the guy off could lead to him telling the cops that YOU sold him the car two years ago! Which would implicate you even more! Contact the cops, silently, swiftly and let them do their job. I'm not a cop...never have been...but I know (despite what Arthur says) that their performance evaluations are based on closed cases and they get "bonus points" for solving cold cases. This seems like a slam dunk...if I were a detective, I'd be all over this.
    Good luck, mang!
