Hey buddy if it weren't for the shipping I would say you give me some of yours and I'll give you some of mine. At least that way I could trip over different stuff.
It's a tough question to answer. I am about to keep the cab,nose, and front axle from my 46 Dodge truck, and scrap the rest. Might hold on to the flawless hood and usable fenders/running boards for a little while, but the rest has to go cause I need the space to continue my project. What sucks is knowing that I will never use these body parts, and will only be hoping that someone out there needs them. -Row Z
49Ratfink, thanks for saving me time by posting my exact thought. When I replaced the door on my Chevy, my criteria for saving parts out of the old door wasn't "will I need it?" it was "is it usable?" Sooner or later, I'll run into someone that needs it.
dang Sam..what ya got..i'll be up pm me..do you need a f-1 steering box for the roadster? <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
Man, am I guilty of keeping EVERYTHING, but eventually everything has a use. A friend came over to use the press to install a lowering kit on his new bike, when he was done he was talking about changing this or that, I went through the cabinets and found most of what he wanted to do, even had the exact match for his front pegs so the rears could match. I had tried to sell all this stuff when I got out of bikes but nobody wanted them. He was only too happy to come over and help with the pouring of the garage floor for all the free parts I gave him......Bottom line, I STILL keep everything.
between myself and my neighbor we have accumulated alot of tri five parts,small block parts and misc 40 stuff--we give it away to folks who can use it or go to a swap meet and what doesn't sell we try to give to another vendor that does the swap meet thing--then chuck it after that
thats how it should be done..i just scored 2 54' Plymouth 15"x4" from a fellow hamber here in maine..he gave me the wheels..i gave him 2 coil springs...good ol' horse trading..and i dont think he even wanted the coil springs <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
yeah shipping is the killer you ever notice some guys run a "cheapey" auction but wayover charge on the shipping
The standard saying goes "the amount of time that passes from when you throw something away until you need it is inversely proportional to how long you had it before you through it away".
X2 that..i usually wait about a month or 2 before i throw the stuff away..but hardly ever throw stuff away..i put a ad for free stuff or when people come over to buy parts i let them take the extra stuff i dont need..
Stuff i cant use or i doesnt sell , I keep in a box in here and when i see someone on the HAMB that has one of those cars i just give them away if they can use them . Actually just got back from the post office . I sent a 55 plymouth speaker grille to hellsgaterods for his 55 plymouth gasser project.
Is it worth something? Everything has its price and somebody willing to buy it. That's what makes something worth something. I can sell old oil drums easy but can't move an oil furnance. I say get rid of it. Somebody somewhere here on the HAMB wants it. Good luck.
put them in the classified here for free. ive been trying to sell a set of 40 ford pu running boards for along time .i gave up ,put them in here and within an hour they found a home.
I have tons of stuff I hate to throw away figuring someone could use it. However as I always tell people "If you keep something long enough, it WILL become totally worthless." Now when I get time or run into something I know I'll never use, I post them here for free just wanting postage costs.
pm me for shipping..sam im coing up for the 51 chevy cab and nose.. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
