I need a rubber bellows to seal accelerator linkage where it come through the firewall. NHRA rules you see...... Full accelerator rod travel from idle to wide open is 2". In addition, the rod travels up and down approximately 1.25"......the hole in the firewall is .500 wide and 1.375 top to bottom to accommodate the rod. At idle, the rod is at the top of the oval opening, and as it moves to wide open, it travels down in the oval shaped opening.

I looked for dimensions for the starter pedal bellows for a '48-'54 GM pickup truck, and couldn't find specs though I did locate a picture. It's close......

    Anyone have other suggestions?

Go to a boat parts store. I had a boat with a 4 cyl Mercruiser and had to repalce the bellows and the shifter cable bellow is probably what will work for you. Usually a boat parts department will have all kinds and sizes of bellows.

Gotta love this place. Several good possibilities for answer to an obscure need.

Corvairs have several different bellows all over the car, including one for the accelerator linkage where it comes through the rear bulkhead.

Thanks to all for your responses. I'm checking with a couple of the references. I did find the McMaster-Carr applications would not work. The marine applications are next on my list.

It sure seems like a shifter boot would work.
Even more fire resistant if made from leather.

The one Blown Merc showed could go out rather than in too and that might help if they allow that. You could even make a small aluminum or other metal plate with an inch and a quarter hole in it to mount it with.
