He****s leave me cold. But the idea that people are afraid of them or feel the need to vandalize them is is just as bizarre as the goofballs who do the spiderweb thing. Its just an old vehicle that happened to haul dead bodies. BF deal, get over it. Oh, and I nominate this the punniest thread on the HAMB so far this year.

I don't understand all the he**** hate. I like it although the price is a tad ridiculous.

Epic coolness right there. If I could get my hands on one that was that cherry, I'd leave it just like it is....and I am one of those skulls and spiderwebs "posers" that everyone loves to bash. Been that way my whole life. My house is decorated in much the same fashion, and has been long before it became a car fad.

I guess I see where you're coming from man, I've been doing the whole midcentury modern thing and playing rockabilly since long before the scenesters made it a dirty word. Just can't stand the Johnny come latelies:cool:

I had a bud in San Jose that was doing a '27 Chevy he****. (!) Very low, semi elliptic springs all around, custom dropped tube axle up front, '57 Chevy rear, still had the factory etched gl*** side windows (42" long!) Width of rear axle and wide wheels made it necessary for Chuck DeLue to fab some rear fenders out of aluminum...beautifully sculpted, faired into the stock '27 running boards. DeLue firewall also.
Coolest thing was the 327 SBC fitted into the stock length engine compartment, firewall was work of art!
Last I saw of it (2007) it was parked on a side street in the Saratoga Rd./Lawrence Exp'wy area... "dead he****".

A nice clean death cab is a very attractive car. The whole thing gets a bad rap. They really do not load a body into it, they put a sealed box with a body in it into it, and then drive it with dignity and grace to the final place of waiting. I find nothing wrong with a he****, it's not like the guy died in there, it's not like a body ever came into contact with any surface in there. All nice and clean and sanitary and no ghosts. Now an ambulance...maybe a different story. May be a lot more history going in the back of an ambulance.

Your Original "Post Pix" for that $16,500.00 rig reminds me of something that the Candadian "Handyman" RED GREEN would build ! But only he'd do it with ductape, bailing wire, rope & string...and it would cost about $15.00 bucks !

As Red says: "Hey, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy !"

Could be because you're on the other side of the pond man. I don't get the ____billy hate. It's a scene full of posers for sure...but it always has been. Thing is, that most of the **** rides I see aren't built by billys. They're built by idiots. The loser that "rat-rodded" the Galaxie before I bought it wasn't a rockabilly. He was a 40 year old yo-boy. In fact the most heinous rat rods I've ever seen were built by old guys that didn't get it. I understand that the kustom car scene and the billy scene merge, due to similar interests, but it's not the billy kids building the **** we all hate.
It's become a dirty word for no real reason other than being an easy target.

After reading the first couple pages of this post, what the heck is the big deal? The price is obviously unrealistic and TEXASladykiller likes he****s. ****, does every off beat post on HAMB have to draw such a bunch of smart *** remarks?? I personally am not into he****s, rat rods, low riders or insane customs. I do appreciate the beauty of the old cl***ic he****s and they have their place in the cl***ic car world just like everything else. Just because people have their own opinions and taste in cars doesn't mean that some of you have to throw out all the smart *** comments. When i first joined HAMB, I thought this place was a friendly bunch of guys who all shared the same basic interest in cars. Lately i have seen a lot of this **** on here and i cannot see the need in it. It really gets old folks!

I like the way a cl***ic he**** looks, always thought it would be cool to have as a daily back when i was in my early twenties, not very practical for me now.back then a friend and i had a s**** car removal/towing business called Grim Reaper Towing.Always thought it would be cool to have the business name painted on the back door of he****.

Man this thing brings back memories. A band that I hung around with in high school had a 1955 just like this that we hauled our gear in. We took it to shop cl*** and put gold **** carpet in the interior. It had Cherry Bomb mufflers run all the way out the rear and sounded great. 1972 was cool.:cool::cool:

I had a lot of fun in an all original '5o's He**** when I was young. Apart from being a cool looking car (IMO), it also had a lot to do with the ancient game played between young Hoodlums and Squares; shock-value.

man you look great for being 80 years old, because if you weren't playing rockabilly in the 50's your just another follower, don't get me wrong i play upright and have for a long time but i certainly don't think my 25 years of rockabilly make me any better than the new kid on the block getting into rockabilly

if you think about it rockabilly has been a dirty word for the last 60 years, that johnny come latelie will be saying the same thing you are in another 10 years.

on the topic of the he**** i have a buddy that drives around a ridiculous he**** with skulls, webs and chains. he does murder scene clean-ups and has for years, not sure if that makes him a wannabe or just a sick ******* but i'm leaning towards sick *******

any good craftsman with an artistic eye can make any vehicle cool! the first thing i would do to it would be to get it to go faster than 25 mph.
