I'll be in the Lackland / San Antonio area in the middle of May for my sons airforce ceremony and was wondering how long I should plan on staying. Is there any cool shops to visit or shows worth going to?
    Thanks for any info!

If you've got some spare time, you can go out to John's Salvage just outside of Seguin....LOTS of vintage tin out there. There's also Nick's Auto Parts on Roosevelt near Loop 410, they've got some old iron out there as well. Vintage Air is just north of SA. San Antonio Raceway is between Seguin & SA if you're up for some drag racing. I hear some local hot rodders are gathering again on Saturday nights at the Bun & Barrell drive-in on Austin Highway. Oh, and, "Remember the Alamo".

Thanks for the ideas fellas. The salvage yards in Texas must be incredible compared to what I find here in the rust belt!

Remember the ALAMO, and the other missions, check out the mission trail, peaceful and inspiring. Fiesta Texas is right outside of town, Sea World, Hemisfair plaza, and the world famous Riverwalk (built by the WPA), recently expanded. Stop in Austin either coming or going and check out 6th street.
Warm, no snow, you'll never want to go back north!

Yeah, I wish the timing would have worked out with the Round' Up. A few of us are thinking of making it LSR next year though!

Take a road trip. Head out Highway 16 to Bandera then on to Medina. Pick up Highway 337 to Vanderpool and then to Leakey. The portion from Vanderpool to Leakey is a gorgeous winding road with cliffs and views. This drive will take 1.5 to 2 hours. :)

    Lunch in Leakey.

If you have more time, continue to Camp Wood on 337, also very nice.

Go back the same way or head north to Hunt, Ingram and Kerrville before back to SA.

Of course you gotta go to the Alamo first!

By the day Fredericksburg, & the NATIONAL MUSEUM of the PACIFIC WAR, then Luckenbach after the museum closes. Don't try Luckenback without a GPS or a very good map but it is worth the trip. You'll be Somebody when you are in Luckenback. http://www.luckenbachtexas.com/

LUV the San Antonio RIVERWALK & the ALAMO!

Fredericksburg is the birthplace of Admiral Chester W. Nimitz.
