Hello out there. I have a question for all of the helpful individuals that I have met out in HAMB Land. I have purchased a hood in Calif. and need to have this transported to South Dakota. Does anybody have some recomendations on the best and safest way to get this item to me. (The cheaper the better of course....) CJO13
I sent a '55 P/U hood via Greyhound. It's up to your local station agent. Mine said rule #1 is-it can't get the p***engers luggage dirty if they rub against it. #2-any sharp edges have to be protected so's nothing gets torn or cut. Some plastic wrapping & cardboard on the corners was all I needed. Best part, there is always 2 men to move it. The driver & st. agent. They can see what it is & handle accordingly. Nothing will ever get put on top of it-look at their storage area-you'll see its only 18" high. Bad part, it will go as space permits and may get set off at some station & wait days for room. When I ship a large body panel I take it in the evening, the midnight bus is usually the least riders, means more room & it'll get out that night. Never had a problem, sent quite a few old panels this way. The key is, find a good station agent that'll work with you.
Thanks for the Ideas. Is there any more out there? It is unfortunate that there is not a Greyhound stop around my immediate area. Sounds like quite a good deal though. CJO13
I bought 2- 47 Merc front fenders from out west last year. They shipped them to me via Greyhound. There were some minor scratches on trim. Have them wrap them real good. Cardboard etc. Bob Hampshire, illinois
