I mentioned awhile back that I was a "mentor" (hard to imagine myself as role model, but they asked...) in the Gilmore Museum Garage Works program. This is an education, vocation, life-lesson program in which local high school kids get to restore an antique (actually, there are 5 cars in the que) car, listen to some grey bearded old farts ******** and generally hang out in a really cool facility. The new shop is almost completed, and we've moved the '25 (or maybe it's a '26 or '27, who cares?) Willys Knight in. There's a '35 Packard, a '41 Caddy, a twenty somthing Chandler and an original, unrestored '09 Buick to be brought in. I'm helping to rebuilld the wood framing in the body, a daunting task to say the least. So far, I seem to holding my own, at least, I'm not making a fool of myself. We're making progress, although it's hard to get much done in just two 2 hour sessions a week. Here's some pics. I wish I had a shop this nice!
Been several years since I've visited the Gilmore museum. Wife and I are planning a summer visit this year with the 41 Chevy I picked up last Aug.
