Steering Column Bearings

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rocket hot rod, Mar 13, 2011.

  1. These bearings are available on eBay for 10 buck each. They are:
    • 1.375" OD
    • 0.750
    " ID

Claim perfect fit for 1.5"x16 GA tubing, or 1.5" Conduit.

I'm building my column now. Anyone ever use them for their columns? Good or Bad?

I've used bearings like that before for steering columns. Work good. I don't remember what I paid for them but I was able to get them at a local hardware store.

  4. Get them at your local auto parts store for a lawnmower, about $5.00 each.

some flange bearings are super cheap as in quality ....look for good ones....esp. if you have some u joints inline.....not a big deal if it is a 1 piece shaft.

I got some from a local bearing supply house for 6-7 bucks several years ago, and they made a noticeable difference. Hardest part was digging out the old rubber bushing.

Anyone got a part number? I'm working on my column as well, as soon as Pat "DaBomb" gets my shaft splines cut I'll be putting it together.

    $10 ?!?
I got mine at TSC for less than $5, maybe I should get a box, and sell them for $9

Tractor Supply Company aka TSC, or your local Farm Type store has a bunch of different sizes of bearings like these
