my registration service is shocked if i give her a ***le, i could care less if a car has one, if it does have one I value it at $200 max as long as the car has a clean vin. a ***le doesn't show liens, tickets, back fees, half started paperwork, ect it's weird how hung up folks get on a ***le but don't bother running the vin prior to buying, i'll never understand that. as far as how a car will get no paperwork there are a long list of reasons that usually narrow down to the yearly fees you pay to keep a car currently ***led, most folks just don't do non-ops (speaking from a california stand point)
ya i here ya with that lol. i have a 56 international that came from alberta canada. i live in vancouver but the truck has gone throw 5 ppls dreams and thos 4 ppl that had that dream to make a great truck never got the the pappers for it . so here i sit trying to find the last owner that had pappers. i have vin and a bill of sale from the guy i got it from. since iv got the truck well i did a frame swap with 305 motor it just all lookes great. not done yet tho . but hey at lest its finly being loved again
Hey man . When you said you checked with i.c.b.c if they had anything on the international . Did you pay the 10 bucks for them to do a full shearch? meaning not just in bc?
NO, the wouldn't. I bought my '51 Chevy without Ontario papers and I had to call each province directly in my ***le search.
funny the lady when i asked her what happens if bc has nothing on it shes like we will see were it was last owend and what u have to do .so that was a lie just for them to get ten bucks lol sounds like icbc lol
The paper work is always missing one signature needed to properly transfer the ***le. Finding the person needed to provide that signature is damn near impossible. The original ***le holder moved, died, or just doesn't have a reason or a desire to help. Plus in Texas you have to have insurance to transfer ***le. So you can buy a project car, not transfer the ***le, sell the car, the new owner is further removed from original ***le holder. He now has a ***le signed from someone who he didn't buy the car from, and it gets more complex from there.
iv had a truck befor got it from reacker just signed his name . even if i was to do that i would need the onwership but finding the onwership for the truck i dont think will ever happen . theres a sticker on the door from a shell in regina.sak . i found were it was allways repared but the guys dad is died. and son didnt keep all the stuff from the shell his dad had. i have a vin and bill of sale from the guy i got it from but its been throw 3 ppl with not having owner ship for it
Luckiest I got was that my 54 olds was parked in 1966, ***le was lost, but vehicle was still in the same family. Did a search in the county archives, found the estate of the owner (died in 1980). Car was listed as an ***et. Had estate re-opened, son appointed executor, ***le created by an act of the court. Lawyer and court costs under $100. The son died a year after I got the car. I was lucky.
what trucks back in the 50s had the vin on the door with screws? i could allwasy try and find a vin and pappers i guess
my 56 i did a frame and motor swap from a 82 cutl*** . now the cutl*** i have the owner ship for the car . could anything be done using that?
My body was found abandoned on BLM land years ago. The guy I bought it from was the retired BLM employee who found it (you shoulda seen HIS backyard!), and he got Utah to ***ign a ***le and VIN to it in 1998, so I thought it would be a breeze to register and ***le, but I still had to go through a bunch of BS and ***le it as a specially ***embled vehicle because the NV VIN inspector didn't think it was "29 Ford enough".
nice car ya my buddy just got his going the other night. hes having a hard time geting it on road hes trying to get it on the road from the vin on motor . i have vin on my truck i just dont have owner ship what should i do? and how do i do it lol?
Same here in CT if its old no ***les I never had one for my 68 chevy pick up, model A or my 53 chevy truck
Did you do what I told you to and write them a letter? Or did you use an autoplan agent who knows absolutely nothing about the inner workings of ICBC? This is politics, do exactly what I told you and you'll come out fine. Write the letter to ICBC, get the official "we have no record of this vehicle" letter and the affidavit from them. Then go to a notary and have it notarised, then go ge your ***le. The process only works if youfollow it exactly. Shawn
So, how would you go about researching if the ***le is clear and obtaining a ***le? Note: the car in question is in new jersey, but also discuss the process in general.
It's very difficult to research ownership history, post-9/11. In Oklahoma, ONLY the registered and ***led owner can get a ***le history...so can lawyers, LE-types, and banks, but if a person were to buy a car here, he could not run down the history UNLESS his name is on the ***le. Used to be able to do it for $3.50 per past owner, but not anymore.
It really differs from state to state and the rules are changing. What you really need to do is find out the laws for your state. Do a search here on the HAMB and you'll find lots of people had lots of problems. One thing for sure not matter where I lived-I wouldn't put a dime into building a car until I had a clear ***le from my state for the vehicle.
