I have an 29 A closed cab pickup ***led that I got a great deal on. I really wanted a coupe because I am 6'3 and am afraid it will be a bit tight. I went to look at some parts to trade a guy and he has about 100 cars and i saw he has a 30 5 window coupe. My truck is complete except for the interior, 1 very small rust hole and fenders are rough. The roof wood is rough and no tailgate. Otherwise the driveline wheels and what not are all there.
The coupe is just the body, doors and trunk lid. It is missing the cowl and the windshield header. There is no rust no holes or dents. The body is in excelent condition and he has a ***le with it.
Could anyone please help me with where I should go with this. I know the guy would like to have my truck and I am interested in his coupe body. There are a few pics of my truck in my profile and I will load the coupe pics i took when I get a minute. Thanks

At 6'3", I'd go for the coupe. It will still be tight, but not nearly as tight as a truck cab. You better be skinny either way.

Also, I think the cowls on the '30-'31 look a lot better then the '28-'29.

If you would rather have the coupe than the truck and he would rather have the truck than the coupe what are you asking us for. In the end they are both just old car parts so if both parties are happy who cares. As for the question sounds like a good trade, coupes are worth more than trucks but no cowl would scare me. Just the gas tank or the whole cowl? either way they arnt that hard to find but its anouther piece to track down. and yes I have a '29 CC and it is a little tight in there.

depends, what do you think the truck is worth? if the body is as nice as you say it is, it's probably in the value range of $2000-$3500 (hard to know without seeing pics)

Going to call him tomorrow and work out the trade. I will have to take some pics next time i go there and start a new thread. A nice older guy who has to have at least 50 pre 65 cars. He has lots of 57 fords and 50's pickups. The guy has 3 edsel station wagons! I have only seen one in my life. I was pretty blown away that he took me behind the locked gate and in his 2 barns. Sad part is some of it has gotten pretty bad from sitting and he is 62. He told me he lost his best stuff in a barn fire that was a total loss.

Straight swap, don't even think about asking for anything extra.......unless the gas tank is there somewere. The Visors are easy to find. Can't get over how nice the Coupe body is, your Pick Up looks just as nice, should have two equally happy guys on this swap.

At 6'3" if your legs are long you will be tight in the truck.I love the trucks but as far as comfort i would get the car.For what its worth i think your truck is worth a little more money but not by much .

The coupe isnt for sale. He came over to my house to look at some parts I had for sale. I was going to sell him the frame and running gear because I was putting the truck on a brookville 32 pinched frame. He asked if I needed any parts so we could do a trade and money. I went to his house to look for a rear end and a transmission. He wanted the driveline I have for the coupe and told me he wanted a cc pickup and it is too bad I am not keeping mine all together because its complete.

Looks like a halfway decent trade to me, because his body is missing a few things thou I'd see if he wanted to throw in something else like a motor out of one of his junk cars or a steering wheel or something.

I guess he could have bought it from that person now that I think about it. It was a more recent buy of his due to the fact that it wasnt in the back. How much was that one listed at? I think the current owner said he paid 4K which I thought sounded a little steep?

I agree, see if there is anything he wants to throw in. Even if he doesn't, I'd still trade.

If I remember right, it was listed for $4500. Little steep for me.
