I've stumbled across the web site from time to time, and finally decided to join in the fun. I consider myself from the old school of the car hobby, and am very lucky to have grown up in what I consider to be the hayday, or golden years of hot rodding and drag racing. To me the biggest traversty in drag racing came with the advent of bracket racing. Again, it's just my opinion, but there's something just wrong about racing a 1/4 mile and jumping on the brakes at the end. I miss the cl*** racing, AA/GS, AA/FA, A/MP, A/SR, A/SA, A/S. etc. All the old timers will know what they are......run what ya' brung and hope you brought enough. I used to flat tow my 64 Chevelle S/S D/MP to Island Dragway in Hacketstown N.J. to race many moons ago. I just went back down the track last year at Valdosta Ga. in the last car I built. Got back into the cars after a good number of years. Always wanted a Mopar of the S/S...Funny Car era, and built a 528 Hemi powered 4 speed 1965 Dodge Coronet 440. Started with a 318 automatic car and did all the work in my driveway....old school. Picked up another mopar on the way.....69 Dodge Dart ex race car. Narrowed 8-3/4 rear, 17" slicks, 12 point cage, next project. I love all the vintage stuff on the web site. Glad to have found it. Bob
