Thanks!!
Some of the 48 to 52 Ford trucks had dual windshield wipers. I often see them on eBay ... for less than 25 dollars ... shipping included. I have one for my 49 Mercury M-47 pickup ( basically the same as a F1 Ford but a Mercury ... made for Canada ) .
I would say no, not an original one anyway, they are 6 volt and still fairly rare as well. Not impossible but they do get fair money for them. I run mine on low. I need to make one of Chris Shelton's voltage drop deals for it like he explains in the new rod and custom article.
Original wiper motors were "0" volt. They were vacuum driven. If you want to run a single wiper, check out some late model SUV rear window wipers. these can be had for a cheap price most times. ..........Jack
Years ago I found a 6 volt electric motor operated setup on a "big" truck in a salvage yard, Like a 51 0r 52. It looked oem. Story I got from old timers is that it was due to low vacuum under load. It fit my 51 without any problems.
How much do you intend to drive in the rain and use the wiper? In other words, is this going to be "regular use" need or just to meet legal licensing requirements? For legality requirements (and very much driven by a lack of space), I took measurements from my 37' Dodge pickup wiper motor "pocket" and then went to the wrecking yard. Due to the very tight space I had to work with I needed something tiny. What I came away with was a Subaru Justy rear window wiper, almost brand new for $15. I'm not sure how these things are rated from a duty cycle standpoint or continuous operation, but it met my needs. There are tons of options with this type of wiper. - EM
