Well, it has started , I have exactly one month to get the Fleetline ready for the Spring Rod Run in Pigeon Forge. , I wanted to take the original 216/3sp. out because it is just a little hard on the original drivetrain on interstates , so , yesterday , my Dad and I pulled the rearend out , and getting the Nova rearend ready to go under the Fleetline , lets hope I can get all this done by Sunday (end of time off...lol)
btw , I'm gona try to use the steering column out of the '63 belair , just for the column shift ,and I'm keeping the original steering box , and I was wondering , I know that the steering shaft in the '51 is one piece , anyone ever cut the shaft on one of these and welded or clamped one of these to another kind of steering column? , if so , can I see some pics?
Even tho' you aren't changing steering boxes, the Tech Tip @ inliners.org about adapting a Saginaw steering box and joining it to a stock column may give you some good ideas. http://www.inliners.org/
