They really are heroes in every sense of the word. The Japanese people revere warriors and defenders of the homeland and I'm sure that these men (I assume they are all men?) will not be forgotten, regardless of their success. May God have mercy on them.

  3. YES. Our little harbor is GONE. 16 sunken boats, lots of vessels unaccounted for still, and the Harbor is GONE.
It's not as bad as the March, '64 Tsunami, but it's still pretty damn bad.
My heart and prayers go out to the Japanese, they are going to suffer a LOT more than this little town did (Crescent City, CA)

I work one evening a week with a young gal who is from Japan. It's so agonizing to see what she's going through right now. Her poor eyes are blood shot from the constant tears. Luckily her family is OK. Still, I bet she hasn't slept for days from grief.

Such a proud and powerful people. I get choked up just thinking about it.

Wifes family is in Nagoya. They are fine down that way. Brother in law north of Tokyo. he says the stores are nearly empty due to everyone stocking up.
Sister is near Akita around 75 miles from the east coast. Still no power or water but all are OK.
I lived in Japan for 12 years. I was there for the Kobe quake but it was nothing like this one.
I have been to Sendai and Fukushima. What a shame.
They will pull through in the end. They help eachother and patiently await help. The only country in the world where the people won't loot homes and businesses.
Stores near the catastrophe are selling thier items cheap and if there is no money they give it to you. Strangers share anything that they have with eachother. An amazing society.
Pray for the nuke workers who are sacrificing thier lives.
