I may have a picture of the car when it was red, white and blue.

Just wondering why that car. Does he know the history of it. Kleintop is my relation and I lost to cousins that night it burnt in the garage.

Although I check this forum nearly every day, normally I don't post here because unfortunately I have nothing of value to add. Now I've gone back and seen that, some time ago, you requested an image of PS in the "X". I came across that one and posted it almost randomly. Glad to hear that you were looking for something like it. I remember what it was like for me when, for decades, I yearned to see images of cars that I'd last seen, in a few cases only once or twice, years ago. Nothing, nothing...then the internet happened, and everyone's old s****books or stack of photos in the attic became available to us all. For vintage modified images, this site seems to be the best anywhere, for which many of us owe a debt of gra***ude to the handful of individuals who have contributed so much to it.
After reading your post above, today I've tried to locate other images of the "X", but have come up empty. They seem to be as scarce as rocking horse doo-doo. I'll keep my eyes peeled in the future.

Perhaps this has already been posted on here, and it's obviously not the car you're looking for, but it's the best alternative I've found:

The first photo is Billy Griswold and the second photo is Cecil Elliott, and both photos were taken at Houston's Playland Park Raceway in the late 1950's. Playland Park Amu*****t Park opened in 1940 and closed in 1980, but the raceway had closed in 1959 after a modified jumped the fence and killed one of the track owners and a spectator - the cars had simply outgrown the 1/4 mile track, a symptom that was taking place all over the country at that time. I went to Playland Park Raceway several times as a child, but really don't remember much about the racing - Joseph F. Meyer Speedway was "my track" but I wanted to show you what Meyer's cars had evolved from. Both tracks produced great local racing, just as many of the ghost tracks of the North East did, and true race fans, like me, miss them all!

    How to explain handling

Understeer / Push: .. You hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer / Loose: .. You hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: .. How fast you hit the wall.
Torque: .. How far you take the wall with you.

I've got one too......The only difference between a short track and a big track or superspeedway is when you loose control the "Crashing and Banging Lasts Longer".

Yea someone posted this pic before. One of the things I remember so well from Malta was when Phil pulled out that metallic paint job X. You could nearly hear the crowd gasp it was just so different looking. Don't think it put him in victory lane much but it was sweet looking.

    Thanks again for posting

  20. What.....double photo postings???? Naw!!! Never after 467, I've probably posted the same photo 4 or 5 times! :) All good, let's keep the history alive!
