Okay guys... I'm looking for pics and info on interior schemes which include the use of fancy cloth material either for the inserts or accents or whatever. we had a 57 belair in here which had a real neat pattern in the cloth, i had a 64 malibu with a real neat pattern... i'm thinking something like a black material with some kind of gold highlights or whatever. also info on where to find interior materials in so cal (LAX-LBC/OC) thanks.
At the cypress swapmeet there is a guy who has a bunch of cool material. Cheap too. I had in mind a brown/taupe outside with a black inset. THe black material had gold and silver ish star/cross patterns in it kinda reminded me of the late 50s' early 60s patterns. Now I wish I would have taken a picture of it.
I plan on doing my '54 Chevy with corvette styled materials if I can find it. I love the waffle pattern next to the "straight" stuff. Seat, Door panels etc. I love factory looking materials. And of course I think the best example of using factory materials is Jesse's Fatlucky interior on his '51.
Here's some detail from my '64 Riviera, currently for sale. This interior by JR at Old Stage Auto Upholstery in central NC The "fancy" material here is a carbon-fiber-ish faux leather in metallic copper. The interior panels were vacuum-formed from custom-built molds. More pictures at http://www.gordyspecial.net
At the SMS website you can see the different cloth that was used in cars by searching years and makes. I spent some time looking for black cloth with gold metalic threads mixed in. There are quite a few and they will send you samples of their fabrics.
