Just got a new Ames catlog. They have floor pans. I just started on a 56 Star Chief and it needs new floors. Keep us posted on the progress. I will be very interested in it !
We made new floor pans for my 57 and they turned out nice. Depending on how much new metal you need the replacement pans may not fully cover what you need. NEver dealt with the Ames ones so they may be ok. Some guy on ebay sells floor pans, I bought a set and didn't use them. Wouldn't recommend those, it's just a shaped piece of metal with lines rolled in it. About $5 worth of material and work for $50, total rip-off. Check out my build thread or profile for some pics if you want. I think I also still have the template I used.
Thanks for all the help guys. This car is a 1956 pontiac National ambulance i need to get it home and do some measuring. thanks for the tip on the ebay ones i have seen those. Anyone no if ambulance and wagion are the same i would think they would be. thanks again jim
Hi, I used Chevy pans on my 56 Pontiac. I had to trim a little bit off where it goes to the door sill other than that it fit fine.
Some Pontiacs have heater cores under the drivers seats and as you might imagine, this creates an issue or two. The Chevy pans are very similar, and could be used if you don't mind modifying them to fite right. YOU could remove the heater stuff, but still, the Pontiacs built in the USA are longer overall than similar year Chevies. Measure and check length before you make the call.
