This is a great site to check for limo's http://my.net-link.net/~dcline/l_s_own1.htm
The 59 stageway you see here is mine, have it a few years already.
Chances are i have to sell it , because of divorce , also have a 8 door checker limo.
Always loved the strechers a lot.
As soon as my other comp. is fixed , i post you some pics.

Do you have any photos of it? I'd love to see it!

Dad has painted cars all my life, so i have been sanding and blocking for most of my life!

Awesome, I love the stretched Checker wagons, i always wanted one till the Burb came into my life!

    Tell me more!

    LOL

Was that the yellow one that was kinda rough looking, all the photos showed it on a trailer? There is one on ebay like that, they guy says there was only 10 built and his is the only survivour (IIRC) but I have heard there was a few hundred built. He was asking $10 000 on eBay... LMAO!

But as for the parts on them, I say buy it if the custom doors are not trashed completely, for the most part they seem to be imperfectly done anyway, so even perfect they need a little finesse, and if you did need doors, I just found a 55 like this not far from me!

So you're the infamous Dave I have been linked to non-stop since 2007, how the hell are you?

I always wondered what the story was on your 59, it looks to be in great shape! If you did have to sell it (I hope not) what would you ask for it? Do you have the ***le?

Hey, for a power plan, check out the mbe 900. Great engine! If it is lacking in the power derpartment check out both the mbe 4000 and the 2004.5-2007 ***mins 5.9 6 inline diesel. That thing has serious potential.

That would be cool, I wish I had the cash flow for that... how do people get sponsors for builds anyway?

Not much of a hijack if I'm encouraging it is it? LOL

My dad and I almost got a 1947 Monarch (Canadian Mercury based luxery car) with 4 doors down the p***enger side and 2 on the drivers, we also found a 62 American Pontiac with 8 doors in a ghost town about 2 hours from where I live... I might go find it again in the summer now that I have a couple of cool cars on the road again!

There is a 58 Ford 6 door that shows up to a car show I do every year in Wetaskiwin Alberta.

I discovered a 57 Chev 3800 Suburban with 3 p***enger doors not far from home, it's kinda rough, but the idea of having a collection of these is intriguing!

I agree, I plan to use it as a road trip vehicle, one I can finally bring other people in!

Man...when they say cruise...you can really cruise in that car!!! I didn't even know GM made that many 'multi-p***enger' cars back then...even in the 50's! Very interesting thread.

I'm not sure if GM built any like this, but they could have. This one and most of the ones on this thread were built by Stageway, they made all sorts of cool stretches based on sedans wagons and Suburbans like mine, they were often built for airport limo service and for small charter buses.

I would like to find out how many were built like mine, there was a really rough one on evilBay a while back for $10000 (WTF?) and he claimed only 10 were built and only a couple survive, but I know of at least 5 or 6 right now though...

    Check out the attachments.

Cool party barge. There's one of those eight door oldsmobiles here where I live. Pretty rough shape though.

What fun stuff! Mike, is that 55 Ford in your stable? I saw a 55 in Wyoming on an Indian reservation about ten years ago sitting on top of a hill. This is the only other one I have seen, same one? ~sololobo~

Man I dig that crew cab pickup in the stageway ad. Here is a picture of my 59 Chevrolet School bus conversion. Yellow paint with black fenders and small windows grafted into what was a panel truck.

I gotta stop looking at this thread! It's making me think about old limos as a camping rig!

  21. From what I've read and been told, that's very possible.

Yeah Larry....probably the same one you saw---mine came off the res. I bought it in Billings MT, came from Lame Deer. You're not the first HAMBer to say they saw it out there
I'm thinking(can't prove it) mine might have been built for Glacier Nat'l Park. It was originally red/red&black inside(Glacier's tour vehicle colors) and having doors on both sides(most only had two on the left side), plus where I found it......
Borderline O/T, so I'll shut up now ....but it would make a weird kustom, eh?:p

  23. WOW! I LOVE IT! Normally when I see stuff like that, I think what a waste...think of all the trucks they had to part out to build that! It's awesome to know that they were available that way!!! TOO COOL!

Personally if it was me I wouldn't lower it, thats just going to make it harder to drive. IF it was mine, I would track down the correct NAPCO parts to convert it to 4wd, along with correct tires and wheels. Maybe deck it out as some sort of hunting vehicle for the rich, or install a bed in the back and only a couple row of seats, like a early off-road motor home.

I didn't save the pics (of course) but my wife found a stretched 62 on CL a year or so back. It was a panel with windows added and was yellow, probably some sort of school bus. I WAS really surprised when she told me she thought we should buy it, but then less surprised when she told me she thought it would be fun to take bar hoping! I p***ed at that point, I dont want my idiot friends puking in my project truck! lol

These were custom-built jobs new, nothing was parted out to create them!

If that beast were mine, I'd run a 12V ***mins with a NV4500 transmission, and leather seats from an Escalade or a Suburban in it. Hell, if you're gonna spend $$$ on it, might as well go in style, too!

Awe c'mon, all the cool kids are doing it! :D

Not O/T at all as far as I'm concerned, I have been told about that 55 as well, when did you get it?

I agree, but being the other route makes this one more intersting to me, it was born that way! :D

I would love to, but I have an awful strong desire to eat every now and then, but I do accept donations! ;)

I need to make a rendering, or a drawing of it, but the idea for the outside of it is either white, or pearl white, I might keep the red stripe it originally had that started out narrow on the front fender then tapered to about 10 inches wide at the tail light, and on the side of the roof rack on that flat steel I was thinking of having "Apache Stagecoach lines" what do you guys think?

From what I know of it, that one is also a Stageway, I saw these photos of it a while back.
