I was wondering if any of you fellow rodders run the 32 ford series over the frame Patriot headers and the turnouts with mufflers? If so, I want to know how they sound? I am currently running block hugger headers on my SBC 327 w/ cherry bomb glass packs. They sound good when getting into the gas but at an idle they sound a bit too tame.

Does the patriot muffled turnouts have glass packs too or are they mechanically baffled?

    Thanks

  2. I have them on my Model A. they are a louvered core muffler with glass packing. I have not had issue with them burning out, but you can easily repack them if they do.
As for sound, to me they sound just like my Cobra side tube headers sound. Pretty good bark, even when idling.

Thanks hotroddon for the quick reply. One more question though, are you running the standard 32 coupe style or the sprint car style header? When viewing the Patriot catalog it is not real clear if the sprint car style will fit the model A. I would prefer the sprint car type as I beleive the flow caracteristics will improve the performance of my engine. (327 SBC balanced bottom end, camelback heads w/ .202 valves, mild cam, tri power carbs)

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:personName>Don</st1:personName>&#8217;t buy the Patriot Headers with the factory coating or you will be disappointed. Unfortunately having thought I solved the coating quality problem, having the Patriot headers coated locally and installing them I find exhaust leaks. Looking into the collector the interior welds where the four tubes meet before the collector were bird shit or Junior High welds. <st1:City><st1:place>Speedway</st1:place></st1:City> is replacing them at no cost but I am out the $300.00 for the cost of the coating. If you purchase Patriot Headers I would pressure check them maybe cap the collector and fill the tubeswith water before you get them coated, good luck. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Thanks for all the input. I was planning on getting the raw headers and just painting them with white header paint and then wrap with header tape. Good advise on the pressure check to find leaks. I'll try to post some pics after I get them purchased and installed. Although, this purchase was just placed on the back burner as I am now rebuilding the transfer case in my other hobby (76 Jeep Cherokee).
