Want some 165/80 15 for the front. Which would you recommend?

Nankang at $140 a pair shipped or Nexen at $116 a pair shipped.

  2. Haven't used either of those but the BFG T/A in 155-80-15 is a pretty good tire for something like $72 each from the Tire Rack. You have to paint out the white letters - unless you like that sort of thing....

I have the Nexen's on my 36 and haven't died yet. The side wall is ugly as hell but not bad enough to motivate me to buff it off.

Thats the size im running on the front of my Dodge dragcar .I got them from a local wholesale warehouse for $37.00 each .Not sure of the brand other than they read "Wide Track" metric on them .Been 113 -114 mph on them proly 50 times with no issues .Go to your local tire store and tell them you want tires for a 70's VW and you should be able to get them way cheaper than what your describing ...

Wow, I thought the Nexens @ $58 each shipped were cheap!

Don't have any pics of them do you? I was just looking at them on line tonight.

  8. Here's a pic on a 5" rim. Would be fine on 4-1/2" too I would think. Anything wider would bulge them too much I think.

I was looking at your albums, are the front tires in this pic 185-60's or are they 145's? Also how wide are the rims?

    Here's a picture of a Federal 165/80 15 on a 15 x 4.5 wheel.

I've run this size tire on 3.5-5 inch rims with no problems. Arizonan brand from Discount Tire is another brand that seems pretty good.
