My Dad and I have a 30 roadster that is black with black wire wheels and we are tossing around the idea of changing over to hubcaps. The car is not very photogenic as is, but some caps and white walls should remedy that. I'd like to see some examples of what hubcaps are being used out there and how they look on your car (or someone else's car). Thanks, KK
LOL! Gonna keep the wires too, but this car just doesn't stand out like it should as it sits. I like the all black look but something just isn't right about it. The stripes have helped a bit but just needs more pop. Here is a pic before stripes. I know that a lot of you out there are running caps on the front or all around your Roadsters or Tudors, and I'd love to see what combo you've come up with. In the words of Arnie... "SHOW ME"
I think the car looks awesome with the wires and the red stripes. I would trade my solid wheels for wires anyday if I could afford it! You can always change the color of the wheels you have, if you want more contrast.
Karl I'm gonna go the other way as these guys and say ditch the streety wires, the wide flat radials don't look quite right on an open wheeled car. Don't take that wrong, it's just an opinion. A cool set of bias whites on stock steel wheels with a cool cap would look killer!
I agree with you. This is actually my Dad's car and I've been trying to talk him into changing for some time now. Once I finally let it go, he comes to me with the idea (like he had never thought of it before). LOL I would like to say that we built this car but it was bought as it is in the 2nd pic. The car come from Cali, and I would love to know who built it.
i agree, even if you just swapped the radials for a set of conventionals it'd look better. radials just look wrong on an open wheeled car IMO
This car was a "streetrod" everywhere you looked at it, interior, underhood, etc. From the outside or driving by you'd never have known it just due to the wheel/tire choice. I believe they were early 60s Vette wheel covers.
