STOLEN '55 CHEVY POST Witchita Falls, TX area!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RoadFarmer, Mar 18, 2011.

  1. Just my freakin luck! I make a trade deal with a guy for his '55 Chevy for my '64 Imperial....he pulls it out of the weeds yesterday so It can be picked up tomorrow. I bought a trailer to go get the car and the car gets stolen last night! WTF! I'm starting to think that a '55 gasser is not in my cards! Here's a couple pics of it. I know, crappy pics but better than nothing I guess. If anyone sees it let me or the wichita falls police know.

was it yours when it was stolen, or was it still his?

not that it matters, just curious, but at least you would still have your car, right?

    sucks either way

Bummer for both of you, but I doubt the seller had any involvement. Probably some opportunist who saw it was pulled out of the weeds and grabbed it. Hope they de-nut the jerks!

That sucks!!! Just curious... Who's taking the loss? And was it an even trade?

something doesnt smell good with this!

  18. It's his loss, the car wasn't in my possesion yet. I figured it was an even trade. I figured my Imperial to be worth around $5,500. And he was trading me a crapped out '55, that sounds about even, no?

I'd bet it's within ten miles of his house right now and maybe even closer. This theft of old car thing has gotten totally out of hand and it takes a lot of nerve to go into a guys yard and hook onto a car that doesn't run and probably can't be towed with a chain because it most likely doesn't have brakes.
I'd just about be looking for some shady character with a repo rig. They might have done you a favor though.

  20. I'm thinking maybe the owner of the '55 had second thoughts about this trade and rather than be the one to back out he just claims the car has been stolen. Not accusing, just thinking out loud .....

    was thinkin the same thing....

  22. Somebody assumed it was a scrap car - I hope the first thing you did was take pictures of it to all the scrapyards in close proximity and put them on the lookout for it.

  23. I live about 4 hours away from there. So I couldn't do that. But don't you need a title to scrap a car?
The owner is here on the HAMB: Devils Instigator

it's not likely that the car was stolen. the owner probably changed his mind and gave you some BS.

I hope you guys sort it out. Also I really hope it isnt scrap yard bound. If scrappers cant get rid of a whole car they shred it with a demo saw. Then haul it in.
