i'm sure there's a tech post somewhere, but i could'nt find it. SO...... does anyone have the part numbers (timken, or other wise) for 40 ford inner and outer front wheel bearings on hand?
Ford front wheel bearings '28-'48 are all the same Outter cone #09074 Outter cup #09196 Inner cup #15250 Inner cone #15118
Still have the old pieces? Take them to a bearing supply place, the numbers cross up to NEW pieces. The cups and bearings are still common on trailers.
Here's the info I posted a while back: Rather than order bearings through the Ford parts houses, I usually buy them from a bearing supplier for about 20% less money. So if anyone is interested, the Timken part numbers for '40 -'48 Ford front wheel bearings and races are: 09074, 09196, 15118 and 15250. Sorry, I don't remember which number coincides with which bearing or race. But I always change them all at the same time.
You should be able to get them at just about any parts house O"Reilly shows them for 46/48 but that is as far as the list goes back but the numbers are the same as the guys showed above . http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...p?make=Ford&model=Deluxe&year=1948&vi=1339837
Hey Wolf - I ran into an obscure problem with front wheel bearings not realizing there is a 0.012 spindle length difference between old and newer early Ford spindles. It manifested itself with some nasty noises when the inner cup was not secured against the inside race of the spindle. I hope you don't run into this one, it took me a while to find it, but some steel spacers did the trick.
Not really a second opinion, 'cause they are the same numbers: 1928-1948 Front outer bearing BCA/Bower #09074 1928-1948 Front outer race BCA/Bower #09196 1928-1948 Front inner bearing BCA/Bower #15118 1928-1948 Front inner race BCA/Bower #15250X 1935-1948 Front wheel seal National Seal #5796
