our pal Springer just scored a KILLER deal on a SUPER solid (but completely dis***embled) 50 Chevy 3 window truck, and he wants to do some mild kustom work to it. i believe we'll be givin it a haircut to the tune of 3 inches (or there abouts) and we have a sweeet front end/grill treatment in mind but he is at a loss as to what to do to the rear of the truck to make it "UN-stock".

anywho. they made that style truck FOREVER, and i know ALOT of HAMBers have em, so lets round up all the pics we can find of them and get em on this post. MILD to WILD, lets see em all boys and girls..

i'll start with one of my favs. Grumpy's old GMC. and we'll see what else i have in the personal archives while i'm in there....

This one is my favorite. I don't remember whose it is, but I got it from here, I hope the owner doesn't mind me posting it.

It looks like not a lot has been done of the rear of that body style truck.
What differant ways have been used to lower the trucks pictured ? Would it be easyer to use an S-10 frame or the stock one ? Could you Z the frame or maybe pie cut it to get the lower stance or is there a better way?

Pinball ...just fine. I hauled the modified to Columbus last year and have had the bed full on more than one occasion.

Here's a pic of mine with the 56 olds lights.

There is a picture of my '50 five winfdow on page 47 of the May '05 goodguys gazette!

    thank you KIRK!

It sits on a stock frame, MII front end and a torque arm rear, similar to the late model camaro. Frame is not z'd, have about 1 1/2 travel in the rear. Elpolacko special.

Pinball...I should add that I have bags on my truck. Hauled the 322 nailhead with the ****** from three hours away. Couldn't tell it was back there. Just added a little air to the bags. I've even hauled a load of firewood in the truck.

I would suggest having trailer brakes if you pull a heavy trailer. When I pulled the modified to Columbus I didn't. I just made sure I didn't have to do any panic stops.

Is anyone running the 8 lug 3/4-ton suspension with newer steel wheels?

If so, what are they off of?
