Looking through the '64/65 Comet drag car thread, the Falcon A/FX thread, and the Thunderbolt picture thread, I see some of them run a basic steel wheel, only some look like they're 15". Would that be accurate? How wide would they be? Newbie type questions, I know, but I have a line on some 15" wheels from a '70 Torino (he thinks) that are 15x5.5 4.5BC and 3.5" backspace, that I'm hoping to put on my '62 Fairlane until I can afford some true Radirs and stuff. I added a couple pics of the look I'm going for. Thanks.

    Hey Havi,

For my 1962 Ford Fairlane I have 15x4.5" Cragars in the front and late-model Ford Crown Victoria rims on the back. The Ford Crown Victoria rims are 15" and depending on what year, some might have the nubs for the dog-dish hubcaps, some might not, some are wider, etc. The nice thing is that you can still find "new" Crown Victoria rims at the wreckers, as they used a full-size spare. Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Thanks, I'll check them out.

Tom, do the CV wheels have the same hub diameter?

Check over at the Stude forum http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/ ther are a lot of good people over there that can help. I'm going to run either Cragars or Americans on the front of my Fairlane. You might want to look at new wheels from Wheel Vintiques. They have an O.E Ford wheel (series 64) thats pretty affordable.

I think the CV hub diameter is a little bit bigger than my 1962 Fairlane hub diameter. Plus I think my CV rims (they're newer and don't have any nubs have an odd-shaped hub area:

That's the hot ticket right there! If I don't find a cheap set of 15's I'll go the Vintique route. Thanks for the pics, too. Was there any tubbing going on there?

I'm running a set of 15x4 Cragars on the front and 14x7 Ford wheels with a custom offset made by wheelkid at Rally America on the rear. The front tires are Pro-Trac 5.60-15 and the rears are Radir 7.75-14's.

No tubbing but I did have to lengthen the wheel opening forward 2 1/2" and plenty of m***aging inside, also relocate the leaf springs inboard for them to fit. Crites sells alot of stuff for those cars check them out if you havent already

Btw If the wheels dont have the raised humps inbetween the lugs holes they wont look old, none of the newer wheels Ive found have these except the 64 series

My 1970 Drag Pack Torino had 14" steel wheels. Have your friend double check the size?
