It's a 61, completely empty with a cage, front bench. I've been told it's hard to get them under 2800lbs. but we're not there yet- i'd LOVE to be under 2800lbs. too far away to tell yet- cage isn't in, nor are brake lines, master cyl, shocks, anything- literally its' a bare shell, motor, trans, and two axles. and pedals are still there- but nothing else-no lines wires nothing. we'll see.

I wonder if you could mount a pair of Holleys on it sideways???.... Looks like the mounting pads are too close for inline carb mounting...

  7. Bigdad,

What are you asking for it?

I built a 66 dart same A body I think the main issue is the under the hood room or lack of I started with a clean 270 model and went from a six to a 273 then a wild 318 stuffed with uncle Keiths best. the main issues I had was the drivers side ext header
there just a pain in the ***. its in the way of the starter theres not a clean way to have pipes done due to the tank, and the 8 3/4 was hard to find. I loved the car it ran hard 13,6s but there wasnt cheap mini starters then I stilllove the 1st gen A bodys tho I have a 64 170 waiting its turn doing a hot 225

  11. I help a friend with his '71 Dart drag car and it runs a 416 "stroker 360 that is unbelievable that motor makes in the order of 600 hp.The car 60' s a 1.42 on average and the best et so far is 10.28 she picks the front wheels and hooks like a freight train...so ya don't underestimate a Mopar small block. After reading this thread I have decided to drop one of my LA engines in my 55 Belvedere. I was doing a nostalgic hotrod build. Now I will either use my 340 tunnel rammed or the 410 stroker I have. I would like to drag race this beast, but keep a late 60s look.

    Hoover's **** :D
    Just kidding...
So does anyone remember when I got raked over the coals and called "bull ****" on when I talked about a friend of mine who built a 383 LA mopar out of a 360 using ford FE pistons?

Just pointing this out, as it came straight from the keyboard of the guy who "wrote the book".................

Working on my sons OT 71 Duster, and it will have a 360 in it. bored .60 over, mild cam, edelbrock intake and 600cfm carb.

Now, I have a 318 I can play with and stuff in my 62 Ranchero.....glad to see that I'm not the only crazy one. :D

well the 62 Ranchero should be identical under the hood to a 62 Falcon (i would ***ume) which is good because the firewall-to-core support is longer and will only need the shoe-horn for the header-to-shock tower clearance...

RRS in Australia offers these notches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDFke4twWI4 but i think they need to be used with their strut kit (about $2Gs and up) but you can do quite a bit of your own notching before running into the stock springs.

My 61 Falcon has no shock towers (straight axle swap) and the mill is 6 inches through the firewall.. Dont give up- 318s can be built VERY stout and will move a Falcon with plenty of authority.

    post pics.

  20. This is my kids 63 Valiant, best of 10.80 123 mph 360 powered. He is building a stroker for it and will be running twin turbos. The second and third pics are of his old 68 GT he sold to Darren Smith at Pro Trans. They did a great job building that car.

That same guy claims mobile 1 ATF is stable to 1600 degrees F. From mobile 1 Atf spec. sheet flash point to open flame is approx 375 F, boiling point approx 600F, Raising temp past boiling point will cause a change in chemical composition.

  23. The 10.8 run was with a 150 shot, 11.50 on motor most of the time. Unfortunately that motor let go with a 300 shot when the fuel solenoid decided to quit working and it leaned out and dropped a piston or two! The new motor is working off an R-1 block and dart heads. I forgot what crank and stroke he is going with but it should be pretty stout when done.
