Pictures are deceiving, the bodywork is deteriorating under the paint so its cracking and peeling especially the roof. Ive DA'd those areas and Epoxied them but haven't taken any pictures of that....

I did some trading and got a new radiator on the way. Should be here by tues....

Had a bit of a set back. The cam started giving signs it was going flat and sure enough it had lost two lobes and was starting to lose a few more plus the bearings were showing wear. We're not sure what happened but we think it started before parking it more than 20 years ago. two race seasons at over 8k rpm with no rebuild plus an enthusiastic teenage boy may have played a major role...

moving forward, I have a spare engine (bone stock 350) were putting in to get us to the roundup.

Here's a few pics. got new bellhousing mounts coming in today and a few small items and the engine should be in this week,

I'm pretty bummed but At least it will be running albeit a stock motor, running and to the roundup...

    good luck.
Hey; check out your fuel filter. From here it looks like it is sitting on the radiator hose. That would warm that fuel up quite a bit when everything is hot....just look'in out.

    Thanks everyone,

Carl we are leaving Friday as my son and wife are at school/work. we may try to bug out thurs if they can get away.

    Keith

    are you going this year?

  18. Last weekend, i saw an almost finished, very nice 57 that a local owns, and also in his collection, a 55 and 56 waiting for their turn. 3 tri five nomads, makes him a bigger tri five dork, lol.
I think its great that your keeping it much the way your dad built it. Great family bonding thing, that will teach your boy so much. Good on ya!

Not this year, my car is still apart and I've got to get that done before I take away from any more garage time...but next year is in the plans!

  24. Thats great you got it back on the road. Is there something really heavy in the back? or does it need new springs?

nothing in the back. the rear springs were replaced in the late 80's (probably soft again) that combined with lots of heavy accessories removed from under the hood (including a very heavy hood complete with thick under coat) has left the front springs relaxed. this car had factory air and p/s that were very heavy. once the hood goes back on and a new set of rear springs it should level it out some

That's a nice old nomad...remind me of the ones at the shows when I was a kid.

  27. Wow this thread takes me back to the 70s !! This is how we used to do things too. Your car just has the look from that time frame and I glad I viewed this thread for the trip back in time to remind me of the good times that my brother and I used to have working on our cars !! Thanks for sharing with us >>>>.

I'm not much of a tri-5 fan and usually find them boring but man oh man, a Nomad with family history and still in the family to write more family history is cool as all get out.

I am a big Nomad fan though and would love to have one even if I don't get excited about walking down a row of same same hardtops and sedans all with their little dealer option trinkets shining in the sun.

Im not into the cookie cutter stuff either and this car was built in the 70's and will always be stuck in the 70's.
