Great story Mel! Looks like a sweet start...

  2. Welcome to the Model 40 club - you're going to have a blast! As others noted, the open cars all had smooth rear wheel wells (at least from everybody I've talked to about original examples). I like the 'Crows Feet' - even pondered putting them into open cars, but they really don't belong.

Now - I have to pick one bone with you . . . where the hell did you get that awful trailer  Just to bust your balls a bit, that is one dangerous way to use a trailer - especially a single axle one. To sound like your 'Dad' - you should at least have had a dropped hitch to get the weight forward . . . and I'd sure be using double axles with a prize like that on the back. If you had a hitch issue or a flat - could have been a really bad day.

What type of engine, trans, rear package you going to run? Please tell us a bad-*** stroker flatty!

Okay - enough up on the soapbox! When you get into it, if you need any help, let me know - I know a fair bit about 34's in general and can find out anything I don't know from friends. Also, if you're going the flathead route, ping me for any build details -- especially if you're going to be building a real hotrod engine :D

    One cool car - congrats!

Seems to be some knowledgable 33/34 folks here. Other than the cowl hood latch hole on the 34, what else is different between the 2? It was mentioned about opening up the hole on a 33 cowl to make it look like the 34 - what hole is that? Thanks

    Nice one

33 Cowl vent has no Bug screen,
34 Cowl vent does Have a Screen

33 hood rest's on the radiator when open.
34 has a bump on the firewall to rest's the hood on when open.

33 Curved lowers on the hood sides, One handle to open the hood.
34 Straight louvers on the sides, two handles to open.

Down low on the firewallside the 33 has a metalhook for the hood lock mechanism to connect to. The 34 has a hole, for the handle.

The 33 dashboard you can swap places between the gauges and the glovebox.
    34 you can't

On a roadster the outside door handles are different. Front inner fenders are different, front crossmembers are different, headlights different, bumpers different, cowl vent lids different...there are hunders of differences between 33 and 34's in all of the body styles.

  21. Kevin an I cut a **** load of trees down and tore the old fence down. Next weekend I'll have up a new fence we are going to make. T is now outside! I found an old br*** era car tarp, waxed. I triple bagged it, then wax covered it. Tomorrow it goes a 1/2 hr. north to the town I grew up in.

Wow, great score! FWIW, that pair of 34 3/w doors will get you your 33 grille/hood and then some.
