1958 Pearl Beer Delivery Truck - So. Texas Brush Country Find

My nephew was working in some brush here is South Texas and came across this pretty cool Suburban. Definitely a cool find.

I thought it would make a cool shop truck. More pics to come after it has been cleaned up and hopefully to follow a build.

Definitely worth saving. I'm hoping it will kept as close to the way it looks as possible.

sorta like a refresh and drive.

  5. How cool is that. Pearl beer I'm afraid that most folks not from texas even know there is such a thing.

Reminds me of some old lyrics," He drank Pearl in a can and Jack Daniels Black, chewed tobacco from a mail pouch sack. He had an old dawg that was trained to attack, sometimes . . ."

That's about as country as it gets, very cool.

Very cool. That should be a unique parts hauler.

  10. Properly outfitted it would also make a good party ride. I wonder how many cases of pearl it would haul and still have room for an ice bucket or two.

  11. How did you get such great taste in music and beer? Canada?

If that's legite, and Im sure it is, I bet the folks that own the brewery would be all over it. Not sure if you've seen the restoration of the brewery, but the place is just amazing. Great find!!

We used to say that Pearl beer was like getting a piece of ass in a cannou (sp) "It's fucking near water!"

Yep, David Allen Coe, love the guy's songs.

Coal burnin' stove, no natural gas. If that ain't country, I'll kiss yer ass......

  19. Ugly as sin. Bury it and get it over with. That thing will never get restored. I'd bet a 6 pack of that Pearl beer on it. Why do you guys get so jazzed up about something that is so stinking rough and has no hotrod or custom value? I'll never understand. Is this just a good old fashioned car site where anything goes? I'm sorry but why? I could go down the road and find 15 piles of junk a day and throw it up here but why? What purpose does it serve? I'm here to look at hotrods and cool customs. Some of you people just seem bored. Come on. Take a good look here.

This one is a Texas thing. The Pearl Brewery is a Texas icon and anything associated with it is worth preserving.

  21. So your saying this a restoration site now. Hmmmmm. I must have missed something in all the years I have been here. I'll ask for a sticky for the burial fund. Is my sarcasm showing? Ice cream trucks,Milk trucks, hearses, clown cars, 25' long Model A 2 door sedans with a suicide perch front ends and belly high that look broken. Will it never end? I must be getting grumpy tonight. No tolerance for the absurd. Just give me real hotods please. Am I alone here? Will some of the more sensible folks please stand up and be counted that dig traditional rods and customs.
There are rotten work trucks all over this country that belonged to brewerys and are dying a miserable death just like that. Doesn't mean they are important in the grand scheme of things. At least in my shallow world. Sorry if you disagree.

I thought hoodlums liked beer. I know I do.....

I dig Suburbans. There is one in my future one day. Congrats and good luck, looks like it was left to die. Hopefully you can make a nice driver out of it.

curbspeed--whether a car has hot rod or custom "value" is a matter of opinion. There are so many things that I can say to and will probably lead to a pissin' match but dealing with your kind of small minded way of thinking is not worth the band with this post will take up.

Like Crease said "it is a Texas thing"

I thought it was a cool find and I posted it up. It is not about the "value" it is about the build and the people you meet during the process.

  30. Wow someone needs their crabby pills. It's not like he posted up an o/t year of truck or car. I agree it's rough, and would probably look better restored to new instead of just freshening, but jeez not everyone can afford a car like you have in your avatar
