Has anybody out there done one of the Speedway Motors Tri Power kits? I just finished up a set (and followed the instructions) and ended up with the linkage and the fuel inlets on the same side (drivers side). This means the carbs are backwards...... The linkage just dont make sense. It appears to all be required to be on one side and connected together, I get that part, but the new bases they give you only have the linkage on the one side, and to make that work, fuel inlet and linkage only appears to work on the drivers side but the carbs are backwards and the distributer wont drop in... What in the hell did I do wrong?????? Thanks, Mike
I can't tell without a pic but the linkage for the front and rear carbs should be on the same side as the inlets. Doesn't the gas pedal run the center carb and on the p***engers side the shaft on the center carb run the ends? Like I say if you could do a pic it would really help-.
Ill be right back with pics ,I dont have the secondary carbs finished yet with return springs-...........
Mine is not a speedway kit so take my info with a grain of salt. My tri-power set up with Rochester 2Gc's the fuel inlets are on the p***enger side and the progressive linkage is on the p***enger side as well. the gas pedal ties into the center carb on the drivers side. No issues with the distributor.
Check out my pics above ,Extended throttle shaft was installed on center carb to put the linkage on p***enger side ,Normal hook up on drivers Speedway kits arent that good in my opinion ,Not enough parts or info,I wrote a thread about this awhile back,,,,
Well, Im gonna get some photos posted with comments. That would help you all understand what I ended up with. Thanks for the quick replies. I will have pics posted this afternoon. Thanks, Mike
OK, I see what I did wrong! I extended the throttle shaft out to the drivers side. This kit does not give good enough instructions. They should send out at least a couple of photos. I found a magazine with some info in it, I think I got it figured out. I will post photos later. Thanks,
Sounds like you got it figured out. Check here for a couple photos posted by a guy who builds tri-powers for a lot of customers: http://chevytripower.com/complete.shtml
