how to remove king pin lock pin

53 dodge coronet. 6 cylinder (not that it matters).
Trying to replace king pins and bushings. stuck on the lock pin. manual shows it should come out toward the back, it looks like it should come out through the back also. beat the **** out of it, not budging. Ideas?

Just thought of something since i'm sitting thinking about it. Is there a set screw through the knuckle support(upright) against the lock pin?

Not real familiar with the Dodges but all other ones I know of go the opposite direction of the threaded end..... hit it on the threaded end. if it's stuck it's likely going to F-up the threads.

 

whats that about threaded something or other. The pin looked like it was round on one end and had a wedge cut on it from the other end and just wedged in against the flat on the king pin. Didn't seem like anything was threaded. I've been wrong before though!

The driver's side comes out by pushing from the rear to the front and the p***enger side from the front to the rear.

Thanks. I thought that was how is was supposed to work. Now I just have to make it happen. I am using a bfh and a br*** rod pounding on it.
Maybe some heat?

HAHAHA! I sold this car last year or the year before. I did get the front end rebuilt though. Just took persistence to get that pin out, like most anything that's worth doing.

Sure. I made the post for any future people with same issue. I'm from oklahoma I know the patent owners of this particular tool I'm talking about. I am machinist/engineer by trade but I know this concept and pains involved. Certainly ***umed this problem was solved. I know owners of patent because I am one of three that own it.
