Lonestar Round Up - thanks and see you next time (dates)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by beatnikontinental, Apr 6, 2005.

  1. a big thanks to everyone for making this year's Round Up the biggest, baddest yet - all of us here in Kontinentalsville were floored by how may cool rides rolled into town last weekend - just unbelievable. By the sound of things here on the HAMB we must be doin things right - its a good feeling to throw such a big party and see and hear so many folks enjoying themselves.

The dates for next year are set - for all of you saying "I gotta go next time" - well mark your calendars for March 31, April 1 & 2, 2006

and if you just can't wait that long to make it back to Austin - the dates for the Day of the Drags are set too - September 30 and October 1st are set for some heads-up quarter mile racing out at Little River.

It really is amazing how much this little party has taken off - thanks to all you HAMB folk for your support - and to Ryan for making this such a cool meeting spot for like-minded gearheads.

To all my Kontinental brothers, Fender Skirts and especially El Jefe and Will for all their help making this thing go off without a hitch - thank you fellas - the reason this thing is so fun is because of the great people putting it on are doing it all for the right reasons - I'm proud to have such good friends - this is the coolest thing I get to do all year.

    see you all next time!

Good deal. Now we can put this little purty, purty car show stuff behind us and get ready for the real fun. I'm getting a 100mph patch this year, or going home on a trailer from trying!

is Little River the same as the Temple-Academy race track?

I'm still suffering from sensory overload from the whole weekend.
I brought allergies and a cold back with me.

got pics of the 5 cops that finally dampened the fun on S. Congress Sat night. and saw a red 40s? ford with its front dented in, probably from the burnouts...

    Yes same place,
Offically its call Temple-Academy Race Way.
Back in the day it was Little River Drag Strip.
It's on the river in Little River Academy east of Temple.
For years the racers called it "Little River" or just "the River" and still do.
    Confused yet? ;)

That just might be why 5 cops showed up?

I'm just glad nothing major happened.

We'll have several rounds of trials. ("TIME ONLY, TIME ONLY, TIME ONLY") Line up against whoever you want to grudge race against, or just see how fast you can go. Then we'll put dial ins on the winders and bracket race.

The bracket racing is really pretty fun. Nobody is very serious at this event. We're just out to have fun and go down the track. The last two years finals were cl***ics. B*** edging out Outlaw in the dark and El Jefe breaking out by less than a tenth in a down to the wire run were awesome.

If you're a serious racer, or just hate bracket racing, this probably isn't the event for you. We really don't need to get into the pros and cons of brackets. Either come down to have fun, or not.

  13. Didn't Outlaw edge out B***? Anyhow it was great race for the loot!

Correct, little dyslexic typing there buzz? :D

  15. Nice meeting you and the other Kontinentals (and Fender Skirts) last weekend. You put on a great show and I can't remember hearing one complaint all weekend which says something for a show of this size. So here's one: the sun was too bright for my lily white Yankee skin and I'm peeling like crazy:D :D Boy do I look out of place around here! (BTW, I've still got snow in my yard:( )

I'll be singing the praises of your show to all I see and they'll be getting tired of hearing my stories real quick. (jealousy helps speed the process)

Thanks for having me and a special BIG thanks to Reggie for baby sitting us Friday for the Garage Crawl after his less than enjoyable Thursday night. He didn't let it show (other than the limp from the fractured toe - even bent Deuce bumpers fight back) as he led us around to six different places.

Just think, your ahead of the game, all ready one sunburn up on everyone up there.
Man my forhead is flaking off all over my desk as I type this.

I tell ya Reggie is one of a kind.
He was saying he was worried about the Kid that hit him latter that same night!
Heart of Gold that guy, Blessed to have him in our little club and as a pal.

Beatnik is correct on the dates. Confirmed race day at Little River for Sat Oct 1. And the LSRU '06, April Fools weekend.
I also want to thank everyone for an unbelievable weekend, starting w/ the guy in charge of the weather. I guess 4th year's a charm. I would not have believed it all happened if I wouldn't have seen all the pictures. Thanks for the pics everyone. I also want to thank all the Kontinentals for an event well done. It seems like we all had more fun at the park this year. Thanks also goes out to all the participants who drove in for the weekend. No cars...no show. Well like a real idiot I didn't take a picture of the 58 Chev belonging to Gary Crump but my wife just told me she had taken one not knowing I was thinking about it. It's not a great angle but it will show which car it was. It was a great looking Black and White BelAire with a louvered hood....It was just plain right. I have no idea at all how to post a picture on here so I will email it to some fellow Kontinental and maybe they can post it.....How bout it "Hotwheel"?
The "Beatniks Pick"Green '23' T Roadster pickup belongs to Billy Freeman from Georgetown TX.
Thanks everyone for coming to our spot in the road for the weekend and what a weekend it was.
