We were thinking about riding up there for the swap. It's about 2 1/2-3hrs. Is it a good swapmeet? How many and what types of cars forsale? We'll be looking for my buddy a new ride. The guy who was in a wreck in his Model A sedan. He's looking for a badass ride, not a project. Is this a good place to go for cars forsale? Talk to me!
Very decent swap meet, worth the drive,as long as it's not raining. Not a lot of complete cars, that I remember. When is it ?
One of my favorite swap meets and about a 2-hour drive for me. Takes about 4-hours to go thru it. Lots of hobbiest-type vendors and some good deals. Car corral isn't too much, tho'.
It's May 19-21. Not a whole lot , usually, in the car corral area. Some years have more than others.-MIKE
It is a decent swap meet, but it is nothing like it was a few years ago, before NewYork started that sales tax bullshit. thye demand a valid NY tax number to be a vendor there.a lot of the little guys decided it wasnt worth the hassle. I agree with the other guys, not a real big car corral. I am about 1 1/2 hours away, and I dont think I will bother going this year.
Thanks fella's. I guess we may skip it. Our sole mission was to find something cool in the car corral. If it's not very big, then the odds are against us. Thanks everyone.
There is a guy in Westfield, on route 20 about 15 miles from the swap, has about 70 cars and pickups pre-70's. Brings them in from the midwest, most are complete runners. Tom Deakin, don't have his card anymore, phone number may be 716 326-2059. Great guy, helped me out with my 66 shop truck, tell him Barry Mason sent you.
You may want to go to the bigger show in Victor in May. We took the drive one Sunday and unbeknown to us a storm off lake Erie wipe them out on Saturday night. I remember the place in the 70's and it took both days to see most of it. Good Luck and maybe we'll see you there. Ray
NYS sales tax number is no big deal, but there must be something for out of state vendors to use to come. Even if you do have to get a NY one, you can now file it online. I've had mine over 10 years. Almost all the shows I go to ask for it, mostly to cover their own ass. Let me put it this way, when you're set up at a meet and you're doing all cash transactions on stuff you set the prices on, it would be damned hard for them to catch a mistake you made and try to penalize you for it; NYS doesn't have the money to chase people down over a $10 or $20 error, in fact unpaid sales tax bills get turned over to a collections agency. If you're looking for a new ride, though, there must be a million cars for sale, hit eBay, Craigslist or look in the local papers. I wouldn't plan on waiting for a show and browsing just what shows up there, because there's no way to know what's going to show until you get there.
