Blocks in the back with maybe sum leafs removed.Cut coils up front ,but i wouldnt cut more than a coil and a half or two coils tops.I have cut coils many times and never had a problem plus its cheap for a nice 2-3 inch drop.Important tip hereont cut the coils with a torch or even think about heating them.Use a cutoff wheel to cut them ...

I did the same to my '55 Olds that I've done with mercs, lower the front spring pocket. The lower control arm is two pieces, held on that car with 4 big rivets in front and back, whack out the rivets, put in 1 1/2" spacers and bolt it back together.
I remember my buddy in highschool use to take his folks '55 Olds out on weekends and we would load the area in front of the radiator behind the grille (which was huge) with bricks to give it a nasty rake...popped the hubcaps and went cruisin'!.... Got back home remove the bricks put the caps back on ...STOCKER...
Thanks for all the info so far it has all been vey helpful. Now I need to make a decision on which way to go. Thanks again!
I have a 55 olds that I am considering lowering some more. When you get it done please post some pics.
