I was unsure if I wanted a 302 in a car that I bought recently and the guy I bought it from said he would give me $400-$500 for it if I wanted to sell it. It runs and has an aluminum intake and edelbrock carb on it (for what thats worth). Hope that helps.

I paid $350 for a runner that I heard run before it was removed from the 78 F100. As stated above...is there anything special about it? 4 barrel carb? Al intake?

$200-$250 would be a fair price add another $50 if it has the 4 barrell intake, remember this is a flat tappet engine and the roller cam 5.0's show up on craigslist and other sites for $450 and up.

If I can't hear it run, I consider it a core or rebuilder....$100

Go to craigslist: auto parts: [search] 302... That should give you an idea of the current market value

Start high................you can always come down:) Seriously, I think the ballpark he mentioned sounds fair. Use his high side to start.

Just sold a 302 to a friend out of an '80's pickup. Only had 80k on it, leaked oil pretty bad, ran like a top. He's a good friend so I was comfortable, otherwise I would have asked 3-400 but probably would have been a hard sell.
