I would like to replace the original 51 Ford convertible top pump and cylinder system with something electric only out of a late model vehicle. My old pump and cylinders are shot and I'm not interested in rebuilding this old hydraulic system. Is there a later model electric only set up that would work in the 51??? Any ideas? Thanks, Steve
No late convert to my knowledge uses screw jacks to raise lower, aside from maybe the retractable steel topped ones. Why don't you just scavenge some cylinders, lines and pump from any late model in a Upick yard? Brian
I used the HydroElectric kit in my 49 Ford, it was easy to install and works great. I considered other options and decided this was the best way to go. It was pretty much a bolt in.
Thanks guys, I'll check with Hydroelectric on what they have. Flynbrian.... No screw jacks in the original system. But thanks to all for ideas. If anybody else has any experience with late model set ups, let me know. Steve
