Ordered my 1971 Oldsmobile Delta Royal Convertible in October of 1970 Waited nine months for it. was a strike year, not many of them made, still have it an would never sell it. has everything on it you could get for that year, except air.
I can't say first owner but my 58 T-Bird was bought in 58 by the owner of the pig farm here in vegas, my wifes grandma bought it from him for my father in law but he went right to Veitnam and it was park since then. I have it now but its gotta wait a few years more to get started on.
My old man has a 31 model A that he bought in at 16 yrs old in 1966 for $100. It was his first car. He's also got an 26 model T touring that he inherited from HIS old man. It's 100% original, pretty damn near rust-free, and used to be their family car back in the fifties. Told me he even drove it to his senior prom. Guarantee he will NEVER sell either one.
I bought my 46 International in 1979. I don't think I'll ever sell it. I have painted it twice, rebuilt the motor once, and have had just about every bolt out at least one time. Oh, watch the "old fart" thing
I traded a 57 Chevy 2 door hardtop and a straight axle for a basket case 1938 Chevrolet coupe in 73 or 74. I got it on the road in about 78, drove it until 1986 then parked it. (a long and boring story there) I've since updated the front suspension, built an old style 327 and need to finish the steering and going to floor pedals instead of the firewall mounted ones. The wife's car in the avatar has taken precedence for the last couple of years.
A friend of mine (non-HAMBER) inherited his 1912 Ford Touring car from his grandfather about two years ago. It has always been garaged (barned actually) since Dan's great-grandfather bought it new. It has never been restored and still looks better than some newer cars on the road today. Dan said it took him about a week to get the hang of driving it. Dan is the third care taker since his father had no interest in cars. Dan's other Ford is a '40 Deluxe Coupe.
I have had this one going on 34 years, pictures are as it was, being redone and how it is today--still bone stock with 31,000 miles on it.
I've still got my '30 Ford Model A Coupe that I got in 1970. The '70 Corvette that I got in '71 and the '34 Ford 5-window Coupe that I got in 1999. Jim
Kinda of a one owner.I went with my dad to help him pick out the 1967 Fairlane he bought in 67.I inherited it.Still has about 60 or 70 thousand miles on it,not sure as its been in storage for a decade or more. All original except one repaint and a vinyl top replacement.I have had my 65 Vette since 83 and my 72 Vette since 86.
well I might be the Oldest here I bought my 50 Merc thats in my Avatar in 51 and still have it Never sell it it will go to my son when I go see my maker inthe Sky!
Don't have a picture of it(but it has been posted on here before)but a friend in Ypsilanti MI(if you live around here you know him)named Dave Jenkins bought his 57 Chevy 2 door H/T new and had it customized by the Alexander Brothers(I believe) the same year.It was featured in several of the,"little books" in the late 50's and Dave still owns and drives it.In my opinion one of the most beautiful 57 Chevvies I've ever seen.
I bought my '57 BelAir from the original owner in July of '64. It's still in my garage and the original owner stopped in a couple of months ago and left me the fender skirts that he had on the car in '57 & '58. I also have the '69 Nova that my Dad bought new for my Mom in January of '69, and a '70 Chevelle I bought new in June of '70. I guess it's hereditary.
I was not the original owner but I did buy this unibody from him. It was a 72 year old man who drove it everyday until 2001 when I talked him out of it. I sold it about 10 years ago to buy an engagement ring... Man time flies! 1962 Ford Unibody pickup by iamflashman, on Flickr
My brother-in-law, now 51 years old still has his 53' Ford F100 that he bought when he was 16. I just finished rebuilding the motor for it, the one we got out of a salvage yard 35 years ago.
Well i didn't have it for many years but it never left my heart. Found my 28 rpu in 75, i was in my later 20's, finished in 79-80, sold it due to cir***stances in 85 and took a along time to get it back. But it's back. Just as i built it, with the paint i sprayed on it. I'm now 57. feels like i had it all along. Link below for story if interested.
You're going to be hard pressed to find an "original owner" of anything old enough to be HAMB friendly, but there's got to be a few out there!
Not to crazy about being an old fart but it's hard to avoid at my age and pictures don't lie. I guess my old beater and I grew up together starting in the fifties. Here's the picture story. Proud, young and clueless in1959 Showtime 1964 1965 to 1998. Stored but not forgotten, then a barn find in my own barn 1999, bringing it back from 30 years in storage Hanging out with the big dogs, Dearborn 2007
The nice thing about being an old fart is you don't have to explain/justify what you're doing. And you don't give a **** what others think. And you don't have to listen to some little **** of a 20 year old with oily hair and turn ups telling you how it used to be.
Well, what the heck. My Dad bought a 1964 Impala SS brand new in '64. I blew up the 327 racin' a '64 GTO across the Evergreen Point floating bridge near Seattle (yeah, I lost). Warranty put in a new motor and he finally gave the car to me 16 years ago. Fast forward again 10 years and I gave it to my son who is in college. Not the same owner but same family! Car is sittin' down in the shop right now, with its cl***ic faded patina and no headliner.
I've had my avatar F100 for almost 10 years now (it was almost ready for the crusher), I did the engine and lot of wiring and bed stuff myself, my sister s***ched the hanging dice, and my grandmother (who already p***ed) helped me sanding the bedfloor wood (when she was like 85), I got it stolen and got it back...after a 10 minute and a 100mph chase (cops and evrything)...., my son (age 12) is learning to drive in it...She's a keeper and I still don't consider myself an old fart....hope we can re-open this thread in a couple of years from now LOL
I've got NO problem being called an "Old Fart",I'm 64,been messing with cars since I was 11 or 12.I love all the young punks that have no clue what my Comet is and arguing with me about the car!!! ROY.
