i picked 1 up from honest and plan on dropping it in . do you still use the ballast resistor? and three wires. + - and whats the third for?
I remember that you cannot have more than 9 volts going into the dist. or you will fry the module. 7-9 volts is recommended, but it has been a while since I messed with one and I cant remember the third wire.
Can't you get directions from Mallory's web site? I've used a unilite before and always ran the resistor (<-- ugly ****er that it is) If you can't find what you need, send me a PM and I'll see if I can find the old directions. The one I ran, we could never get enough advance out of it. Good luck with yours. Pike
Hawke, Go to www.taperformance.com/ignition There is a diagram there showing just what youre doing. Hope this helps
heres the info red=live side of coil. green=neg side of coil. brown=earth http://www.taperformance.com/ignition1.htm diagrams from the link are excellent!! wish i had them 9 months ago..
make sure that brown wire is connected very well to a good ground connection on the engine, and that it can't come loose, or the module may blow out instantly. Supposedly they fixed the problem on later ones, but I'd rather run points than a unilite! at least you can fix points when they quite working.
Go to the Mallorywebsite, tons of good reliable info., depends on which coil you are using, mine runs two resistors.
