I'm thinking it has something to do with hot rods. They must be related art forms. Both individualistic and counter to the normal and the mainstream. Today's over processed food of Beiber, Lady Gag Gag and the like, pale in comparison.

I remember Wolfman Jack back in his AM radio days howling all the way from south Texas. About 10:00 at night he would fade in and out on the radio as we cruzed down main street in our nowheresville of a little town. And the music! Man he gave us Pinetop, Muddy, H. Wolf, and Little R., B. Guy and all the greats! White boys fed the steady diet of Pat Boone, Paul and Paula, and the like on the two local stations (WKY and KOMA) never heard such dangerous music. The cross over guys were there alright but the safe music always had more play. For me, W. Jack changed all that. And he brought us Pinetop Perkins. Thanks man!

Well, he gave 100% every time, right to the end. That spirit and his music will live on. I was sad to hear of his p***ing (found out on the HAMB, as usual), but will celebrate Pinetop's life from here on out.

Are all the King Biscuit Boys gone now? Sam Carr still alive?
I sure wish I could hear King Biscuit Time on KFFA in Helena, AR today....Sonny Payne will have a great tribute!

I never heard Pinetop play much until he hit the local news for getting hit by a train in his truck. He walked away. Shortly after that he moved from around my neck of the woods to Texas. He was a regular at Martha's Midway Tavern in town here, I just never got the chance to see him before he moved.

    Jam on Pinetop...RIP.

Listen to Old Black Blues all the time, just about the only music I listen to anymore. That 30's and 40's group will never be topped. The music they made and played was what they lived and we are all the better for it. RIP Pinetop and say hi to John Lee.

I heard about this yesterday and sad to say I never got to see him perform.

I've only got into Blues within the last couple years but was amazed to hear he was still around and his palying hadn't diminished, truely amazing.

Looks like he lead a long full life and he is back with some of the great bluesmen jamming for eternity now.

His p***ing lights a fire under my *** to go see B.B. and Buddy Guy before they are gone.

Man, you would need a a lot more than those two lame *** wannabe's to trade for Pinetop or any other of the old bluesmen.

I know what you mean though.

Well, considering the fact that rock and roll and rockabilly both owe their existance to the delta blues, I'd say it has quite a bit to do with hot rods...
