    So i was taking a little roadtrip and out of the corner of my eye i saw something shiney in the woods. I found a road to turn around on and went back and saw a '34 grill peering out of the woods at me. I think i blinked a million times and possibly smacked myself in the face to re***ure myself that what i was seeing was real. There it sits...tucked away in the woods. A 1934 roadster sitting on its frame and wheels...no tires left though. I didnt get a real good lok at it since its a little ways off the road and behind a fence and lots of trees BUT i managed to regain my composure and carry on. The car is solid enough to tell what it was/is so that leads me to something potentially promising, right?

    I will be returning tomorrow or this week to figure out who/if anyone owns the car. It's been sitting there for a LONG time. My dream car has been found...now i just have to do the investigative work to determine who owns it and if i can get my hands on it. at this point; i'm thinking no more than s**** price since it really is a heap of rotting iron right now and nothing more than that. CT weather isnt friendly to sitting automobiles. wish me luck :D:D

    yup. and its been out there for a looooooong time. pretty crazy no one has noticed it but its in such an unoticeable spot you really would never see it driving by. the fence probably keeps people away too.

    thanks! i will if it comes home with us. bringing cash just in case :). even if its not worthy of rebuilding; it'll be nice to save the useable parts left to it.

    we are heading there today. it looks like a 34 but it could be a 33. same grill shell. Its hard to tell from the road but maybe today we will get the opportunity to get closer. I think it might be owned by some older folks down the road as the fence runs to their house property. it might be a hacked up roadster and it might be a doodlebug now but i don't really care.

    I know where the same grill shell is hanging in a local barn if i need a replacement too :)

    Take a camera and lots of cash. More cash than s**** price, especially if it turns out to be a true open car rather than a closed car with the roof hacked off. Just about any 33/34 is worth saving. Hard to believe a 33/34 (with grille yet) is sitting outside.

    i have a feeling that since its been sitting out there for so long...there probably isn't much left to it and thats the reason why im not really ready to fork out more than s**** price. the grill is there and the body seems to be there in my quick driveby but i really haven't gotten close enough to see just how bad it is. I did notice there is no hood with it (unless its sitting in the body shell) and the motor is gone. I have a feeling the poor car has had a lot of stuff stolen off of it. its rust so it blends in with the color of the dead leaves and trees really well. Its close enough to the road that you can see it but im starting to think that if its been sitting there this long; there probably isn't much chance the folks want to sell it. I'm sure after all these years; i'm not going to be the first person to knock on their door.

    we have access to tow trucks so we could get it out of there pretty easily.

    I dont know much about these cars and i'm sure i wont be able to afford to get it on the road again. I'm thinking if i can save it; i'll offer it for sale to someone who could afford to get it out there again. While i'm excited for it...I'm not going to get my hopes up:rolleyes:

    Hope it is what you think and that it can be saved. If it is not savable some of the parts on a 33/34 roadster are unique to the roadster like the dash. Good luck and don't forget to post pictures.

  19. Oh that car? Yeah thats mine, been in the family for years. It was a nice car until my grandfather cut it up so he could race it at Bonneville in 1939. But I'm gonna' fix it up some day, yeah put nice 22s on it, new corvette motor, Boyd style body work, airbags, neon under the body................yeah man, its gonna be so sweet.................:eek:

    Honestly? Nice find! Hope you get hold of it!

    Post photos if the owner lets you take them. Chances are there is a good story about the car and why it is just siting there. Nothing wrong with saving it and flipping it to someone that can use it.

    I'll just insert this useless message here so I'll remember to check back later for photographic evidence of your find.

    Hey, farmergal;

    Yup, I can see why it's still there... :D .

    Not much to go on there, or work with... :) .

    Good luck w/the getting. Bucks to build or not, iffen you can get it, time & effort will eventually get you there. As will the $$ needed over time. :) .

    & I'm also curious about "the story".

    Marcus...

    You once said you were in Willington/Ashford area;

    I lived in Willington for almost 30 years, so if it's near there, I can't believe I never heard of it from all the car guys I know.

    let me get this straight, theres a 34 roadster with the grill still on it visible from the road??
    NOOOOOOO WAY HOOOOZAY!!!

    on second thought here i think you may be right and its a cheapo aftermarket kids pedal car thats supposed to 'resemble a 34 ford.

    ur phone takes pics and who would just drive off? -- ive climbed fences with 40 no tresp***ing signs, barking dogs, 20 below zero, 3 feet of snow to look at 1 /2 as valuable of cars!!
