Guys, a friendly warning if you have a "nice" or "collectable" battery operated clock ect.

I have had a rash of "coroding batteries of the AA size. I have not see the "amount" or frequency since the 70's when every AM radio got trashed by the Eve_ready "9"'s  .....said I would never buy them, now the expensive one's are doing it.

    - This tells you one thing....something has changed or gotten cheaper.
    - D_r_cell.......I do not promote any brands, but in the last 6 months I have had this happen 4 times....? All other brands drain down to zippo an no leaks.

Check your fav's......you might be surprised of the white **** on the inside.

Must Agree....Coppertop are not the product that was produced a short time ago. Also, tried the brand from Costco brand ruined my Mag-lite and one small radio I carry daily in a very short time. Any ideas for another better brand. ??? txz

If you are using them in your early Sun Tach with a remote, that makes it traditional.

  5. You might want to check the ones in the camera that took this pic...just sayin'.

or the emergency flashlight that went ***s up and now you can't even replace the batteries, gotta replace whole light, checked yours lately? spraying PAM into battery compartments limits damage.

You don't have to look too far for the traditional application(s)....

    Additionally

My dads old Sun handheld tach/dwell meter has AA batteries in it and it was made in the late 50's. I can remember getting *****ed at for leaving it on and having to spend my own money to replace the two original labeled LR6s in it.

AA batteries turning to chit in your testers and things.

  12. I have lost a few small MAGlite torches through these batteries. I used to only use the Dur_a_cell batteries until my gat torch went ***s up. Did it a few times so I went through a couple of torches, glad it wasn't on Ops and just 'kill house' and CT. Would have been bad if a set of NVGs or a UVdesignator went south, Could have been nasty on a target building entry!
I went to rechargeable, more cost effective and never had a battery go bad, seemed to last longer too.

    Doc.

I have a few of those neat Garage "collectable" Clocks........and so do many others from the pics......if batt powered....just give it a quick check.. as noted earlier...digital cameras.....testers, Sun tachs....may be even the flashlight in your rat rod...whils't you are on the side of the road tightening a wire nut...so the lights work...

I use a lot of those battery's at work, maybe 5-10 a week, and have not seen any problems. I use a few in clocks, but they are just cheap clocks <G>
