Lord I tried, but I could find nothing about this BANJO wheel

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ko-lek-tor, Mar 27, 2011.

  1. Hey there fellow Hoodlums,
Old timer friend of mine gave me this steering wheel (nice score!) and I am hoping it will fit the coupe I have. He thought it was from a Lincoln. I searched all threads related here on the HAMB, even the cl***ifieds, then E-you know what, and lastly a Google search of banjo images and cannot find anything close to ID this jewel. Please help, if you can shed some light. You will notice it is a "faux banjo" as the plated spokes go over the top of the bakelite spokes. Since the brightwork is plated and not stainless and the way it is made has me thinking it is post war. The center is splined and keyed. It is 17"s in diameter.

They were aftermarket "bolt on spokes" that bolted to Ford wheels , there was a thread on a new old stock set on here about 6 months ago.

Ford had a 7 degree taper..if that helps..same as a Ford rod end..just stick one in and see if it works...d32

  4. Limey Steve, you got me pointed in the right direction. I believe it is a 37-38 Chevy wheel. Never could find post about bolt on spokes you were referring to though. I found a good pic on Eb-- of 37-38 wheel. and have a match.Thanks.
