Howdy guys/gals. I wanted to reinroduce myself (posted last week but believe it was lost) - was on HAMB many months back & work took me away. I'm Bill from northcentral Illinois, 57 years old - married 35 yrs (she a good gal who like cars and will turn wrenchs with me). I am half way thru an AV8 project (Mike & Vern inspired) and have a 51 Ford 2dr & 46 Ford short door coupe as drivers. They won't winn any trouphys but they do get driven. Future projects include a 41 Plymouth coupe and a 30 Model A pickup. Both need a full rebuild but I got em cheap. I try to do everything myself including painting. My work may ain't perfect but I like to try and see if I can do things rather than rely on others. Hope to be able to provide a little knowledge in the flathead area and thanks to Ryan & all the regular HAMBers for a great site for the do it your self guys. PS: missed the hundert car pile up in my own back yard last year (damn work), but will be there this fall.
You missed a good one in the Pileup... the dates have been announced, make sure you have that weekend clear! ...and welcome aboard! Mike
Hi Django - I actually live in Wilton Center Ill pop. 94 "yahoo". Manhattan is the closest post office. About 75 miles south southwest of the big city. Thanks for the greeting.
Lo Joerox - The 41 is absolutely original right now with 22k miles. Bought it from the 85 yr old 2nd owner in Diamond Illinois. He worked for the dealer that sold the car origianally and he delivered it to the first owner. Then eventually bought it. He tried to repaint it about 4 years ago and didn't do too good. I bought it pretty my apart and it needs to be repainted, chrome replated etc - he managed to get a primer finish out of acrlyic lacquer. Best thing is it has no rust - very unusual for an Illinois car. I was so lucky to get it very cheaply. Thanks for the reply and lets keep in touch about our 41s. Bill
Thanks to everybody for the great welcome. I have no trouble chosing which to drive as I only have one or two running at a time. They all need work but I havin the most fun ever. Thanks again, Bill
