I had the dirt track combo on my roadster and they looked awesome but drove not so good. How do those tires track? I like your beige wheel color for the contrast, but the monochromatic look is cool too.

As for the ride..both set of fronts are bias ply...so its nothing like the ride of my late model. I have been chasing a vibration at 60-65 for a bit on both sets.. I have Dyna beads in these tires now so I will see how that goes.I am still working out all the bugs...Thanks again and see yall at the Round Up

OT, about wheel balance for Ford rims. I'm thinking that Ford rims don't locate on the center hole on the hub. They locate off the studs. Most (all?) modern spin balancers locate on the center to spin them. Some older balancers have an adapter that has 5 studs that adjust to the bolt circle and mounts on the arbor. You bolt the wheel to the adaptor, then you are concentric with the studs to the arbor.

I just replaced the fronts on my T and spun the wheels on a modern machine centered off the big hole. I could see the runout while turning the wheels. Put the wheels back on the hubs and no visible runout. Took a ride, sure enough 58-62 bouncing like wheel balance. Took the wheels off and redid the balance on my ancient bubble balancer, which locates on tapered pins on the lug holes. Moved the weights around. And the balance problem is solved.

Just something to think about, sorry to derail the OP's thread.

Thanks for the info gas pumper. I will see how the dyna beads work out. I can see a little runout while spinning the tires on the car up on stands...hoping its just an illusion. I will be putting a bunch of miles on it starting Thursday of this week. Will see how it goes

Come back later to this thread and let us know how those Dyna-Beads work out. I agree that many wheels aren't concentric with the center hole. Hard to find anybody that's got the adaptor to spin off the lug holes, but they are out there.

With your headers, I think the new tire/wheels look better. More late 50's/early 60's style, the frst set look more mid 50's to me. It's amazing what a set of wheels can do for a cars look. Enjoy both and drive the hell out of it.

Me like! And since you didn't have to sell your old set you can switch back and forth when/if you feel like it. Sounds like a win win to me.

    Dave,
I have put almost a thousand miles on the car since installing the new tires. I have found out this, if you drive the car and get the tires hot and let them sit over night, they flat spot..but they will smooth out after 3 miles. The rears are smooth all the time. The Dyna Beads seem to do the job. No weights needed on the outside...smooth ride up to 75 mph.. I also have found that I need a new pair of front shocks. Overall very happy and am having a good time trying to wear em out:D.

Your original setup looked hot, but those new three stripes are pretty sweet as well. Glad to hear you kept the original set so you can switch back and forth. Both look great and you can't go wrong.
