Anyone have some really good interior shots of your way of doing this? I've got a 32 Poncho and I need to get started on this. Next weekend I'll lug my lincoln up with some small (1/2") square tube so I can pull the doors and start squaring/bracing up the body. Wondering where you start from there? I'd assume the cowl area would be the best place to start as that will keep itself relatively shapely compared to the rest of the coupe? Thanks in advance!
There is a lot of pictures on (29 chevy full sheet metal kit car) thread. But bring your reading glasses. Here are a few of my 28 chevy. I used 3/4 inch tubing...ghost
I am going to start on my 27 lasalle replacing the wood with metal as soon as this #$@ snow melts why bump up to 1" steel?
I found in some areas, it might be easier to fabricate supports from flat stock, basically making your own shaped tubing. In doing this you end up with a support that fits the contours of the body better. About half way down the page of the link below you will see how I replaced the wood with steel where the door mounts on my coupe. http://www.nostalgic-products.com/3wchop.htm At first I started with square tubing, and decided that I wouldn't get results I was hoping for. Best of luck with your project.
