I heard it was this weekend, but someone said it was last weekend. (????) What time ya'll rolling out there? There are a lot of power parkers these days. I'm going to cruise....that is if I can get my license reinstated before then. I drove to Vegas and back in the 23 with a suspended license - YIKES!
From what i hear it is this sat. Apr 9 th. Heard also that there will be more vendors so get there about noon to get a good spot! I'll be there around 3 so I'll park out in back again. jerry
If Jerry's going, I'm not going! (just kidding...) I've got to spend that time working on my 27 before my wife gets home from Japan!! I heard last time they closed the cruise down to 1 lane each way. I'll be getting with you guys as soon as the car's running. Take it easy...
Yup the last hurrah before they start tearing the **** out of Central avenue for a useless, feelgood, trolley that will travel at 15 mph. Phoenix City Planners can take a flying leap! /end political rant please do not kill me Take advantage of it if you can, it is always a big deal. I hope they will let it go longer than 9:00 pm this year, but most likely the kids and the ***ually pent up will ruin it for everyone.
[QUOTE I hope they will let it go longer than 9:00 pm this year, but most likely the kids and the ***ually pent up will ruin it for everyone.[/QUOTE] Hell, with lawn chairs, vendors, event t-shirts, monster golf carts, purpose built race cars behaving very stupidly on city streets and all the other slapped-*** nonsense, it's darn near ruined allready. What used to be a low key, somewhat outlaw (cruising is illegal in PHX) deal where people actually would cruise up and down Central Ave has become huge gold chainer, nit-wit, full on circus. There will be a huge number of nice cars to look at though, so it is still worth checking out. I will miss it however, I will be in Sandy Eggo retreiving my new machine.
I wish they would kick all the venders. My car allways ends up embarrasing me by overheating in the middle of the road or snapping an a-arm, but I will probably still go just to see what my car will do this time.
as Mike said; it has become a circus. Yet i will be there in my Dodge Mike ...... another car purchase?
I hear ya! Just a fuggin ego stroke for the powers at large. If we're lucky, maybe they'll shove another stadium down our throats too, regardless of how we vote! Hey, did you hear they are going to change the name of Indian School Road? Naw, I'm just stirring up ****, haha. I LOVE PHOENIX!!! Oh! I'm going, I think....
Vendors?! What the hell. Maybe I should set up shop with the teardrop trailer and sell plans. HAHA. Seriously I was thinking of bringing my latest one out, but I don't have a hitch on anything now. I sold the Tahoe. HHmmmm Jerry?
After speaking with the top dog "nancy" who put herself incharge of this about 3 cruz's ago .YES there will be vendors at park central , just about the whole north side .This had to be done to pay for the portapotties, that park central reguired NO this will not be the last cruise .Prob the last one will be in oct , after that it maybe moved . YES the traffic will be forced by the cops to one lane in either direction makin criusin near imposible . YES 2x's the police presents will appear for this event , twice the # was ordered from last years event . There was also something about BEER on park central property ,as in if your cought it will be bad kinda thing . Sounds like fun A cruise where you can not cruise ,AND YES MIKE the cops will start putting up closure barrakades at 9 pm . What we should do i cruise 7th ,I know a certain shop off 7th and camleback we could gather fro milk and cookies , here kitty kitty Wouls have been a perfect open house gokat . have fun...
Depends on what you want out of the deal. If you want to park, get down before 6 pm. By 6 it is already crowded. If you want to drive 3 mph, stop n go on the one lane, anytime until 9 pm. This whole 1 lane nonsense totally ****s. It must be how they can legally get away with the "no drive past one point more than two times in one hour" law. I guess they have to put strict curbs on the "fun" in order to "allow" this to happen. Vendors taking up real estate where cars could be? And to think at one time you could do this any weekend years ago and it was not such pandemonium due to the seldom allowance of car gatherings. After reading what "Nancy" has planned I am now less excited. Especially after last year. What is the point?
I just want to see all the "good" cars. To hell with cruising a one lane. I like the 7th Ave cruise idea.
If you get run out of there, Paul Yaffe is having a big party at his place tomorrow 12-5 on 22nd st. and Indian School. I plan to hit this place first, and call down to see how F'd up the cruise is. Saturday night is huge party at the Dirty Dogg Saloon, this will be a wild one....... Scottsdale and Shea on the South East Corner.
I'll be there at Yaffe's and will swing by central in the early afternoon. Maybe, Glen, if your lucky, you can dodge me! BTW, if anybody else is going to Paul's, forget about all that p***e motorcycle **** (hehe) and BUY my vintage Schwinn board tracker that is at Yaffe's place!!!
I am not sure if this was mentioned or implied, but there is a supposed $5 parking fee if you plan on keeping your car off the streets and in the main lot. FYI.
Personally ron i think the so-cal open house will be 200% better . Cops blocked off the streets infront of park central totally ,and when i walked the lot there were ALOTTA empty spots and people leaving in droves . If they do hold another central cruise i think i will p*** .Not like it used to be thats for sure .
